IrcsomeBot1<CaptainMirror> I had to enable PIM events. I finally got someone in another window who is able to help.00:00
IrcsomeBot1<Franzpow> Hi! I today I had a problem with my Camera MicroSD card. … I tried to copy files from my computer to the card I couldn't do it. I had no problem with Windows by the way. I think that the SD was in "Read only" mode but, even opening the folder as root, I couldn't copy files in it. Any suggestions?00:01
IrcsomeBot1<CaptainMirror> I got it to work, but I don’t see how to add my Google calendar.00:02

IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> New to KDE, thanks in advanced😁02:57
daniwetttype a / where says mount point, maybe?02:58
daniwett"/"02:58
daniwettwithout commas02:58
daniwettRutvikm02:59
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, That would be for swap creation right?02:59
daniwetti think for swap must be /swap02:59
daniwettbut if u will only format for install a system u have to place /03:00
daniwettim not a sysadmin03:00
daniwettbut i have done some linux install03:01
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Cool, but how to set up a logical partition instead of a primary03:01
daniwettand always have placed a /03:01
daniwettlogical have to be inside prymary i think03:01
daniwettlet me google that for you, one moment03:01

daniwettare u talking about LVM?03:02
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, Yep03:02
daniwetti recently discovered that LVM is for make partitions changes in sice03:03
daniwettsize03:03
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, Ooo03:04
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> But are there any disadvantages of setting up PrimaryVM instead of LVM03:04
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Because this 18.04 installer won't let me choose that03:04
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Afaik03:04

IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, Yes, stuck in installation03:10
daniwetttake picture of error message pls03:10
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> First image is ZorinOS 15 Core installer(Gnome)03:10
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> 2nd one is Kubuntu 18.04 installer03:10
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, No error message03:10
daniwettthen u are not stuck03:11

daniwetttype a "/" where says mount point03:12
daniwettwhitout the commas03:12
daniwettand click continue03:12
daniwettis all correct03:12
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, Stuck in the sense, I'm not able to figure out whether the Zorin like partition type option where we create a partition as logical is present in the 18.04 installer, or its in some trivial position which I haven't been able to decipher03:12
daniwettok, i know that feeling03:13
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> And if not that, then what'd the installer be choosing by default for me03:13
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Logical or Primary03:13
daniwettdont care about that03:13
daniwetttype a / where says mount point03:13
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @daniwett, Ok03:13
daniwettand click continue bro03:13

DaniWeTTagain here03:20
DaniWeTTand i found a diagram that maybe could help us these concepts03:23
DaniWeTThttps://blog.purestorage.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/www.somu_.usroot_lvm-b15d96bef4cffae46ba6c84097fe67af651d8c4e.png03:23
DaniWeTTfisical partitions are in a deeper level03:24
DaniWeTTand logical volumes are contained on it03:24
DaniWeTTi think03:24
DaniWeTTand you will prompt to use LVM after partitioning the disk ( not sure )03:25
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, 👍🏻03:28

IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> While trying to select a partition for formatting03:29
DaniWeTTmaybe this error is about u didnt set a bootloader like grub?03:30
DaniWeTTbut if u have a zorin os installed u can add the entry for ubuntu from there03:30
DaniWeTTif install process finished03:31
DaniWeTTi think u did something wrong in the partition process03:31
DaniWeTTi usually start with the guided partitioning process03:32
DaniWeTTand if i dont like what it will do, then i change from this point because the guided process makes the "dirty" part03:33
DaniWeTTlike set booting mount point, swap, etc03:33
DaniWeTTdid the install process finished after crash or nothig done?=03:34
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, Idk if its grub, but Zorin OS bootloader looks like this.. A lot different from typical grub 203:34
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Wait a min03:34

DaniWeTTi have a fall out theme using same icons03:37
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, Ok03:37
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Also, the installer didn't do anything, all previous partitions were as it is03:38
DaniWeTTthere are wonderfull theme out there03:38
DaniWeTTok03:38
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> I have currently booted into Zorin again03:38
DaniWeTTare u able to make video conferences-?03:38
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Does non lts 19.10 have a lot of bugs?03:39
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Because ig 18.04 is quite old now03:39
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> So that's why those issues occurred03:39
DaniWeTTi cant talk english, but can help u with the install procces, have installed 18.04 and 19.10 like 100 times03:39
DaniWeTTim spanish, cant write low level english03:40
DaniWeTTbut is hard to speak for me03:40
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, 100 is a great number for sure03:40
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> So is 19.10 as stable and bug free for Linux newcomer? +03:40
DaniWeTTi have work with both03:41
DaniWeTTand i preffer 19,1003:41
DaniWeTTspecially if u own nvidia graphic card03:41
DaniWeTTand, in my opinion, ubuntu ( gnome flavour) 19.10 has bugs03:42
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, So, 19.10 good for main OS? Or constant problem solving?03:42
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, I have Intel graphics03:42
DaniWeTTbut i installed kubuntu some days before and all works well03:42
DaniWeTTnot sure but i think 19.10 is a rolling realease03:43
DaniWeTTu know03:43
DaniWeTTmore updates03:43
DaniWeTTless stable03:43
DaniWeTTbut 18.04 ends in january03:43
DaniWeTT2 months03:43
DaniWeTTand then u have to change again03:43
DaniWeTTeven more, in my opinion, if u choose stable distro but u are a hard user ( u like to try new soft, want to be with the last security parches, etc)03:45
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, Stability is topmost priority for me03:45
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> I'll try 19.1003:45
DaniWeTTu will be in roalling03:45
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> But if its not stable then wait for 20.0403:45
DaniWeTTbut what do u understand for stability? because 19.10 works really well in my laptop03:46
DaniWeTTno crash03:46
DaniWeTTno bugs03:46
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, By stability, I mean unexpected formatting of Hard Disk and things like that03:46
DaniWeTTi had to do that in past with stables releases03:47
DaniWeTTand with non stables03:47
DaniWeTTsometimes shit happens03:47
DaniWeTTand more03:47
DaniWeTTto users like u and me03:47
DaniWeTTtesting tutorials without the deeper knowledge03:48
DaniWeTTbut this is not a real problem, in my opinion03:48
DaniWeTTthe problem is if are not prepared to manage this kind of situations03:49
DaniWeTTu have to make a good backup / cloud rules03:49
DaniWeTTseparating the data from system in partitions...03:49
DaniWeTTuploading critical data to cloud03:50
DaniWeTTetc03:50
DaniWeTTand then if u have an unexpected format, will take no more than 30 mins03:50
DaniWeTTto recover03:50
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Thanks for the insights bro03:50
DaniWeTTno problem!03:50
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> I can make an informed decision now👍03:50
DaniWeTTi like chatting and helping03:51
DaniWeTTthis is why we are here, isnt it?03:51
DaniWeTT;)03:51
DaniWeTTbut remember, as i told u, im not a linux sysadmin03:51
DaniWeTTjust another monkey pressing keys!!!03:52
DaniWeTTand Rutvikm, let me ask u sth. why did u choose Zorin Os?03:54
DaniWeTTwhat use do u do with the pc?03:55
DaniWeTTand why did u choose ubuntu, specially Kubuntu now?03:55
DaniWeTTdo u use windows? have u tried anothes operating systems or Linux Distros?03:56
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> I have Windows10 as my main os atm04:24
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> But specifically for programming purposes, I need a plug and play Linix04:24
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Mint Cinnamon was laggy on my 4GB ram, i3 5th gen system04:25
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> So I tried MX Linux, but it didn't support Ubuntu repos04:25
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> After some hopping I found ZorinOS core to fit perfectly for the needs04:26
DaniWeTTgnome flavour?04:26
DaniWeTTor you changed the x manager?04:27
IrcsomeBot1<Swift110> Oh04:27
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> But now it has started to lag and though I tried to clean it uo, it has some obscure dependancies on geavy apps like Nautilus04:27
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, Yes, Gnome04:27
DaniWeTTok04:27
DaniWeTTu know, there are some x manager lighter than gnome04:28
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> So Ig KDE is the best for me(lighter + same intuitiveness)04:28
DaniWeTTand some distros specialliced in "old" machines04:28
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> And Kubuntu being official flavour is most stable KDE OS imo04:28
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Also the community is great04:28
DaniWeTTno and yes04:28
DaniWeTTi think kde is not a light x manager04:29
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> @DaniWeTT, I tried Antix and Bodhi Linux meant for older machines04:29
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Antix is not great04:29
DaniWeTTand yes kubuntu is one of the most stables isos for kde04:29
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Bodhi has some development issues in terms of time availability and has been irregular for security support lately04:29
DaniWeTTif u only will use for programing ( text editor like ) there are tons od tiny distros04:30
DaniWeTTand i didnt know that 2 distros04:30
DaniWeTTi have worked with dam small linux, Porteus and openlec04:32
DaniWeTTopenelec04:32
DaniWeTT(openelec just for Kodi player OS)04:32
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> I also tried Puppy and loved it04:33
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Bit it makes you sudo by default04:33
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> Which isn't great for security04:33
IrcsomeBot1<Rutvikm> openlec seems interesting04:33
DaniWeTTyes04:35
DaniWeTTtotally recomended for smart tv os04:36
DaniWeTTif u have not an smart tv04:36
DaniWeTTok, enough for me today04:45
DaniWeTTits 5:45 am here04:45

CrellHi folks.  Since upgrading to 19.10 last week, I've been having an issue with the CPU.  When the computer boots everything is fine, but after a while something goes off the rails and the CPU is constantly pegged.  According to htop it's not always one program; the top programs vary.  Something is just pegging the CPU, seemingly kernel level because it doesn't show up as its own process to kill.17:23
CrellHas anyone else seen this?  Any idea what to do about it?17:24
