[00:00] I had to enable PIM events. I finally got someone in another window who is able to help. [00:01] Hi! I today I had a problem with my Camera MicroSD card. … I tried to copy files from my computer to the card I couldn't do it. I had no problem with Windows by the way. I think that the SD was in "Read only" mode but, even opening the folder as root, I couldn't copy files in it. Any suggestions? [00:02] I got it to work, but I don’t see how to add my Google calendar. [00:27] is this bot talking with itself [00:28] jfariasf_1: it's a telegram relay [00:28] ahh! [02:59] i think for swap must be /swap [03:00] but if u will only format for install a system u have to place / [03:00] im not a sysadmin [03:01] but i have done some linux install [03:01] Cool, but how to set up a logical partition instead of a primary [03:01] and always have placed a / [03:01] logical have to be inside prymary i think [03:01] let me google that for you, one moment [03:02] wait [03:02] @daniwett, I'm following this guide for all Ubuntu based installs and its working fine so far [03:02] https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://itsfoss.com/guide-install-linux-mint-16-dual-boot-windows/&ved=2ahUKEwiaqeDcleHlAhVSeysKHdgzBZUQFjACegQIAhAB&usg=AOvVaw2SeKuGqsm9uh86RqqloeJ6 [03:02] are u talking about LVM? [03:02] @daniwett, Yep [03:03] i recently discovered that LVM is for make partitions changes in sice [03:03] size [03:04] @daniwett, Ooo [03:04] But are there any disadvantages of setting up PrimaryVM instead of LVM [03:04] Because this 18.04 installer won't let me choose that [03:04] Afaik [03:05] i think u are mixing concepts [03:05] but maybe im wrong [03:05] i learnead all reading like you [03:06] and talking in chats [03:06] of course [03:06] @daniwett, Same here [03:06] Do you see images from telegram on IRC? [03:30] but if u have a zorin os installed u can add the entry for ubuntu from there [03:31] if install process finished [03:31] i think u did something wrong in the partition process [03:32] i usually start with the guided partitioning process [03:33] and if i dont like what it will do, then i change from this point because the guided process makes the "dirty" part [03:33] like set booting mount point, swap, etc [03:34] did the install process finished after crash or nothig done?= [03:34] @DaniWeTT, Idk if its grub, but Zorin OS bootloader looks like this.. [03:39] Does non lts 19.10 have a lot of bugs? [03:39] Because ig 18.04 is quite old now [03:39] So that's why those issues occurred [03:39] i cant talk english, but can help u with the install procces, have installed 18.04 and 19.10 like 100 times [03:40] im spanish, cant write low level english [03:40] but is hard to speak for me [03:40] @DaniWeTT, 100 is a great number for sure [03:40] So is 19.10 as stable and bug free for Linux newcomer? + [03:41] i have work with both [03:41] and i preffer 19,10 [03:41] specially if u own nvidia graphic card [03:42] and, in my opinion, ubuntu ( gnome flavour) 19.10 has bugs [03:42] @DaniWeTT, So, 19.10 good for main OS? Or constant problem solving? [03:42] @DaniWeTT, I have Intel graphics [03:42] but i installed kubuntu some days before and all works well [03:43] not sure but i think 19.10 is a rolling realease [03:43] u know [03:43] more updates [03:43] less stable [03:43] but 18.04 ends in january [03:43] 2 months [03:43] and then u have to change again [03:45] even more, in my opinion, if u choose stable distro but u are a hard user ( u like to try new soft, want to be with the last security parches, etc) [03:45] @DaniWeTT, Stability is topmost priority for me [03:45] I'll try 19.10 [03:45] u will be in roalling [03:45] But if its not stable then wait for 20.04 [03:46] but what do u understand for stability? because 19.10 works really well in my laptop [03:46] no crash [03:46] no bugs [03:46] @DaniWeTT, By stability, I mean unexpected formatting of Hard Disk and things like that [03:47] i had to do that in past with stables releases [03:47] and with non stables [03:47] sometimes shit happens [03:47] and more [03:47] to users like u and me [03:48] testing tutorials without the deeper knowledge [03:48] but this is not a real problem, in my opinion [03:49] the problem is if are not prepared to manage this kind of situations [03:49] u have to make a good backup / cloud rules [03:49] separating the data from system in partitions... [03:50] uploading critical data to cloud [03:50] etc [03:50] and then if u have an unexpected format, will take no more than 30 mins [03:50] to recover [03:50] Thanks for the insights bro [03:50] no problem! [03:50] I can make an informed decision now👍 [03:51] i like chatting and helping [03:51] this is why we are here, isnt it? [03:51] ;) [03:51] but remember, as i told u, im not a linux sysadmin [03:52] just another monkey pressing keys!!! [03:54] and Rutvikm, let me ask u sth. why did u choose Zorin Os? [03:55] what use do u do with the pc? [03:55] and why did u choose ubuntu, specially Kubuntu now? [03:56] do u use windows? have u tried anothes operating systems or Linux Distros? [04:24] I have Windows10 as my main os atm [04:24] But specifically for programming purposes, I need a plug and play Linix [04:25] Mint Cinnamon was laggy on my 4GB ram, i3 5th gen system [04:25] So I tried MX Linux, but it didn't support Ubuntu repos [04:26] After some hopping I found ZorinOS core to fit perfectly for the needs [04:26] gnome flavour? [04:27] or you changed the x manager? [04:27] Oh [04:27] But now it has started to lag and though I tried to clean it uo, it has some obscure dependancies on geavy apps like Nautilus [04:27] @DaniWeTT, Yes, Gnome [04:27] ok [04:28] u know, there are some x manager lighter than gnome [04:28] So Ig KDE is the best for me(lighter + same intuitiveness) [04:28] and some distros specialliced in "old" machines [04:28] And Kubuntu being official flavour is most stable KDE OS imo [04:28] Also the community is great [04:28] no and yes [04:29] i think kde is not a light x manager [04:29] @DaniWeTT, I tried Antix and Bodhi Linux meant for older machines [04:29] Antix is not great [04:29] and yes kubuntu is one of the most stables isos for kde [04:29] Bodhi has some development issues in terms of time availability and has been irregular for security support lately [04:30] if u only will use for programing ( text editor like ) there are tons od tiny distros [04:30] and i didnt know that 2 distros [04:32] i have worked with dam small linux, Porteus and openlec [04:32] openelec [04:32] (openelec just for Kodi player OS) [04:33] I also tried Puppy and loved it [04:33] Bit it makes you sudo by default [04:33] Which isn't great for security [04:33] openlec seems interesting [04:35] yes [04:36] totally recomended for smart tv os [04:36] if u have not an smart tv [04:45] ok, enough for me today [04:45] its 5:45 am here [04:45] time to sleep!!! [04:45] ;) [04:45] good night all [04:46] hope to read u again Rutvikm [04:46] have a nice day/night [04:47] #kubuntuofftopic [04:49] just read the guideline, sorry for chatting here [04:57] hi, running Kubuntu 19.10 (plus backports) on a Asus laptop having a Ryzen CPU plus discreet AMD graphics (RX 560) and all working like a char except it doens't come back after sleep. When the computer boots everything is fine, but after a while something goes off the rails and the CPU is constantly pegged. According to htop it's not always one program; the top programs vary. Something is just pegging the CPU, seemingly kernel level because it doesn't show up as its own process to kill. [17:24] Has anyone else seen this? Any idea what to do about it?
