bejeI would need a bit of help: after updating to Xubuntu 19.10 I am facing a strange issue: every now and then, but 2 times in the last, like, 45 minutes, my computer looses video signal for like 3-5 seconds. Then everything comes back to normal... Is there somewhere in the logs were I could look for details? Thanks!09:30
well_laid_lawnI would have   dmesg -w    running in a terminal to catch what the kernel is reacting to09:34
well_laid_lawnthere is an Xorg log in ~/.local/share/09:35
bejeit seems that the system is trying to get to sleep/suspend...09:41
well_laid_lawnis this while you are watching a vid or not doing anything ?09:43
bejethis happens when I am doing something at the computer... first I thought that the signal is coming back from itself, but it happened once more and I did not touch anything to see how long is lasting... and it put the monitors to sleep09:44
bejei think it is putting only the monitors to sleep, so this might be a screensaver issue...09:44
well_laid_lawnsounds like it09:47
well_laid_lawnall monitors hae their own power saving mode after ten minutes too09:47
bejebtw, this happens after an update from 19.04 to 19.10 on a desktop computer09:48
bejei think this is an os issue as I have 2 monitors (different brands) that go together down...09:48
well_laid_lawnI'd check that the screensaer config hasn't changed wit the update09:48
diogenes_you might have ended up with 2 screensavers starting at startup.09:49
bejeI have disabled the screensaver from xfce settings09:49
diogenes_look in autostart.09:50
bejehow can i do that09:52
beje?09:52
bejesession & startup?09:52
diogenes_session and startup09:52
diogenes_yes09:52
diogenes_look for screensaver, light-locker and xscreensaver09:53
bejeI have a Screen Locker and a Screensaver09:54
diogenes_disable that too, clear saved session, check if 'save session' is disabled and re-log.09:55
bejeshould I disable both of them, or to disable one, to try it out and then to disable the other one... to find the culprit...09:56
bejethanks! I will try them out09:57
loptaIs it Xubuntu that ships with memtest86+ on the USB install image?19:19
tomreyni think ubuntu and xubuntu probably, too, do.19:33
tomreynbut you'd have to boot in bios mode19:33
loptaThanks19:38
tomreynif you prefer uefi, or a newer memtest, there's a free but proprietary memtest at memtest86.com19:43
loptaI don't prefer uefi ;-)19:44
