[08:55] Awesome :D === ilvipero1 is now known as ilvipero [17:23] Hey, I'm having an issue where I can't edit GRUB's configuration. [17:24] Robo2020, what you trying to do [17:24] I want to set it up, so that GRUB doesn't appear. I have only Xubuntu 18.04 installed. There are 3 entries whenever I boot. [17:25] I forgot the names of the entries, though. [17:25] I tried changing the timeout to 1 second, and it didn't make any difference. [17:26] Robo2020, cat /etc/default/grub | nc termbin.com 9999 [17:26] share the link [17:27] https://termbin.com/sj5f [17:29] Robo2020, replace GRUB_TIMEOUT_STYLE=hidden with GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 [17:30] and below GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=0 add GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true [17:30] save, close and run: sudo update grub [17:33] ok, updated, reboot now? [17:33] cat /etc/default/grub | nc termbin.com 9999 [17:33] share the link [17:33] share [17:34] https://termbin.com/el55 [17:35] looks good, reboot. [17:39] Nope. I still get GRUB 2.02. The last entry is "System Setup" that takes me to a menu, where I can press F-keys to enter BIOS or choose boot devices. It's a HP laptop. [17:39] I think that last entry is the problem. [17:40] I looked in the BIOS and didn't find any interesting options. [17:41] Robo2020, why you need to go to system setup? what is the first entry? [17:42] First entry is: Ubuntu. [17:42] Second: Ubuntu recovery. [17:42] Third: System Setup [17:43] Robo2020, sudo apt install grub-customizer [17:43] did that just now [17:44] in the menu open it and look through the options. [17:45] there is something like hide the menu ... [17:45] don't forget to save changes [17:45] yeah, don't look for other operating systems? maybe that [17:46] that too [17:47] i forgot the options, it's been awhile since i last used it. [17:48] yeah, that's okay, i'll try rebooting [17:51] Nopes. What does "Install to MBR..." do? [17:52] it installs the bootcode to mbr section of the hdd. [17:53] don't do that if you don't know what you do. [17:54] Okay. [17:54] I'll remove the System Setup entry and reboot. [17:56] I have no idea what's wrong with it. [17:57] lol [17:57] It's like the config file doesn't work. [17:57] Has been like this ever since I installed linux. [17:57] Only ever used Ubuntu, though. [20:02] hola [20:03] buenas tardes
