frickler | yeah, fast+comfortable!=working, I see quite a bit of work coming up for our installation automation coming up there :-( | 12:39 |
coreycb | jamespage: I'm refreshing the ussuri backport patch for ceph | 13:51 |
jamespage | coreycb: thanks | 13:52 |
jiffe | why does snapd depend on apparmor? | 17:02 |
jiffe | I stopped/disabled apparmor and now lxc has problems | 17:03 |
Ussat | why ? | 17:04 |
jiffe | why what | 17:04 |
compdoc | Ive never needed to mess with apparmor. it never got in my way | 17:05 |
jiffe | this is a test machine, it constantly gets in the way so I've always disabled it here | 17:06 |
Odd_Bloke | jiffe: snapd uses AppArmor to confine installed apps. | 17:11 |
sdeziel | jiffe: disabling Apparmor is like the nuclear option. You can usually get away by disabling a single profile if it gets in your way (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AppArmor#Disable_one_profile) | 17:14 |
sdeziel | or maybe if you are not doing something weird, you could also report a bug to have the profile corrected for everyone's benefit | 17:15 |
jiffe | weird is kind of what this machine is for :) | 17:32 |
stunts513 | I just switched to Ubuntu Server 19.10 since it has a way more up to date version of qemu-kvm(v4 as opposed to v2.12) than centos, i use gpu passthrough but every time i enable the code 43 workaround you need for nvidia cards, i get a bsod. Any ideas on a workaround? And i should mention i did enable the ioapic driver=kvm already, it didn't help. | 21:51 |
Ussat | you realise 19.X is not LTS, right ? | 21:58 |
stunts513 | yea i did that on purpose. the current lts isn't any better than cenots 8 in terms of recent versions of software. i switched to 19.10 because i was having latency issues in the vm more than likely due to the lack of optimizations available for ryzen cpu's in the older kernel and qemu version. | 22:33 |
stunts513 | centos* | 22:33 |
stunts513 | as such my gpu's were always having issues with sli crashing the driver and random audio issues. | 22:34 |
