Eickmeyer[m]OvenWerks: Oh wow, I haven't used a 5.25-3.5" adapter in eons.00:56
OvenWerksOne of my drives is PATA and needs to be right under the DVD (also PATA). Other wise there is one more 3.5 bay at the bottom.00:57

Eickmeyer[m]I'm thinking: 19.10 is out. 3 months from now is its release. 19.04 is now EOL. The leap from 18.04 to 20.04 will be huuuuuge considering all we've done in the past two years. 18.04 is hard to support. I think all new installations should be 19.10 and upgraded to 20.04 when it comes out, since that will be a small leap and people can have the LTS support of 20.04. Thoughts?17:40
Eickmeyer[m]I mean, at this point it'd be silly to have people install 18.04 only to upgrade to 20.04 in 3 months.17:42
OvenWerksSeeing as 18.04 was never labeled LTS, it should not be a big problem17:52
OvenWerksIs it listed on the website DL page?17:53
OvenWerksEickmeyer[m]: on the other hand, someone who has installed Studio over vanilla, does have an LTS17:53
OvenWerksSo backports for 18.04 should mirror that17:54
Eickmeyer[m]OvenWerks: That's a different matter altogether.17:54
Eickmeyer[m]I'm concerned with new installations.17:54
OvenWerksLike I said removing any link to the ISO from the web page makes sense17:55
OvenWerksIt could even be EOL-ed17:55
OvenWerks(in fact it should be by definition)17:56
Eickmeyer[m]I removed it from the front and replaced it with a "20.04 Focal Fossa - COMING SOON" non-link.17:56
Eickmeyer[m]I'm just wondering about the download page now.17:56
OvenWerksThe one thing That is difficult is those doing the install old version to get 32 bit and upgrade17:56
OvenWerksI think that works up to 19.10.17:57
Eickmeyer[m]It doesn't. The release team has disabled upgrading from 32-bit.17:57
OvenWerksSo 1804 is it then17:58
* OvenWerks has a perfectly good 32 bit laptop...17:58
Eickmeyer[m]I mean, that's understandable, but we're not in the business of reviving old hardware anyhow. We've already discussed how our applications don't even run well on older hardware.18:00
OvenWerksunderstood18:00
OvenWerksthere seems to be a break at about 15 years ago where everything made before lasts "forever" and stuff made fater lasts 5 years :P18:15
OvenWerks(or less)18:16
Eickmeyer[m]Something like that. I have a 2011 MacBook Pro that still runs like a champ.18:21
Eickmeyer[m]I've had to replace its battery twice though.18:22
OvenWerksI have a 1998 nec LT that works fine too, but it is slow, the 10-12 year old LT on the other hand is still very useful.18:22
OvenWerksHmm, actually, if I took the 98 nec and used it in text mode only...18:27
Eickmeyer[m]LOL Look at you with 22-year-old museum relics... :D :D18:28
Eickmeyer[m]The Living Computer Museum in Seattle wants a word with you. 🤣18:29
Eickmeyer[m]I'm just kidding, OvenWerks . :)18:30
OvenWerksI actually do quite a lot in text. This irc, all my mail, system maintenance...18:30
Eickmeyer[m]Probably not a bad idea just to have it as an SSH terminal.18:31
