Psi-JackNice.. Bitwarden folks got me an enterprise trial pretty dang quickly.01:01
daftykins:D01:01
Psi-JackI mean, literally. Less than an hour of my request!01:02
Psi-JackAnd, the interface is turning out to be, so far, comparably as good as Enpass's, which is pretty dang good.01:02
Psi-Jackonly 2 weeks,. though.01:18

pragmaticenigmatomreyn: I believe frenda is running a private server on a residential internet connection13:42
tomreynpragmaticenigma: you mean teknik.io is theirs?13:43
tomreynhmm no i guess you didn't mean this.13:44
tomreyni guess i'm fine with them running a private server on a residential internet connection13:44
pragmaticenigmatomreyn: based on the ip address registered to the domain tomreyn13:48
pragmaticenigmahmm... guess not... looks like the site is just a pastebin like provider13:48
tomreynpragmaticenigma: yes, it seems to be just another file + image + text hosting / url shortening / ... service14:06

pragmaticenigma-ops has got to be loving all the attention "guest" is creating with the bot16:33
leftyfbI have yet to see them ask for help in #freenode16:35
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: The away message hasn't been enforced in a very long time, and it was more for when clients would auto set people away and they'd come and go several times in a few minutes. Simon has never been such a burden which is why it hasn't been brought up before to them17:30
Psi-JackOh? heh.17:30
Psi-JackI've been asking people to stop that for 25 years. :)17:31
pragmaticenigmawe each have our tolerances... mine is only if it is happening with high frequency with in 5 to 10 minute (similar to the #fixyourconnection)17:33
Psi-Jackindeed. Just the fact it's automated is enough for me. ; )\17:34
lotuspsychjethat wasnt an away message, but just a nick rename?17:48
lotuspsychjenick renames arent forbidden17:48
Psi-Jackit's listed in the policy actually.17:48
lotuspsychjewhat?17:48
Psi-JackYep. :)17:49
lotuspsychjeto not rename a nick?17:49
Psi-JackDon't use public away messages17:49
Psi-Jack    Some clients have the ability to announce when you are "away" from the IRC client, and also when you come back. Some clients can also be configured to change your IRC nick-name when away and back. If your client has such an option, please ensure that it is disabled17:49
lotuspsychjePsi-Jack: it wasnt an away message17:50
Psi-JackA nick change technically is public, and global.17:50
lotuspsychjei think you confuse with /me is now away17:50
pragmaticenigmalotuspsychje: No... Psi-Jack is correct17:50
Psi-JackNo. /nick Psi-Jack_AWAY is still a public away message.17:51
lotuspsychjebut simon didnt do that? he renamed his nick?17:51
lotuspsychjeunless he used the /me to do it17:52
Psi-Jack... Imagine every one of the hundreds (or thousands) of people in each channel doing that. It's not a pretty sight. Changing your nick to user-away is frowned upon. If you want to set away do it silently with "/away Reason" then when someone uses your name they are told you are away and the channel is not disturbed.17:52
lotuspsychjeif i want to rename myself to lotus|away im allwed right?17:53
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: there isn't anything in the guidelines forbidding the chaning of a nick though... no matter what it is changed to... AFK could mean anything to Simon... could be the name of another computer17:53
Psi-JackI remember when #ubuntu was drowning in activity from Q&A, automated away/back situations, etc... It was a dissaster.17:53
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: That hasn't been a problem in the last 2-3 years that I have been participating in #ubuntu17:53
Psi-JackHeh,. AFK is a standard for "Away From Keyboard".17:53
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: It is also an abbreviation for Afkorting17:54
lotuspsychjeis somone abuses too many nick changes, thats another story..17:54
pragmaticenigmareally... unless it's happening with high frequency... just let it be... we have bigger fish to fry17:55
Psi-JackNow, the irony is.. We've spent more time here talking about it, then the interaction in #ubuntu itself. where his resolution was to simply /part. Which is an acceptable response to not wanting to follow good IRC netiqute.17:57
Psi-Jack:)17:57
lotuspsychje24/7 idlers need to part now?17:58
Psi-JackDo they use away nicks? :)17:58
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: And you're presently acting as "self appointed sheriff" ... if you have a problem with another member... take it to -ops ... don't try to battle it on your own17:58
Psi-JackHe's the only one I've seen in the past 48 hours. ;)17:58
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: Exactly... hardly constitutes a reprimand17:59
Psi-JackNow, with him however, I'd seen it multiple times.17:59
Psi-Jackbut, for -ops... Yes... That may be more appropriate.17:59
pragmaticenigmaPsi-Jack: They're the only ones that I see do it... and I typically see it once or twice per 24 hours... hardly a case for abuse18:00
Psi-JackHeh, to me, DOING it is abuse, period, but that's a personal battle I've had ever since IRC invented /away finally. :)18:02
Psi-JackThat was.. ~28 years ago?18:02
pragmaticenigmaDon't know... but seeing as you have been away from #ubuntu for a spell... it might be a good time to relax, take in the overall feel of the channel18:04
pragmaticenigmaand again... when in doubt -ops :-)18:04
Psi-JackTrue!18:04
Psi-JackSo, I definitely can understand all angles of this. And, I know it's not my place to impose or act upon. Bad habbit of mine. :)18:05
* jelly tries hard not to have a deja vu18:06
pragmaticenigmajelly: when did you wake up?18:07

Psi-Jackheh18:08
pragmaticenigmareviews lo... oh wait ... channel isn't on there anymore18:08
