takov751greetings all08:43
takov751I seek guidance08:44
takov751 I was on kubuntu 20.04 development branch, but it was unbearable unstable for some reason so to find out that if it was more of a hardware problem i installed ubuntu-desktop meta package, but at this moment for some reason i can change the appearance in tweaks. However there is no appearance menu in the system settings. I think i failed to install a crucial package . It seems that i forget something. 08:44
takov751This release by far seems more stable than i expected 08:44
takov751kubuntu is bit borked, however the ubuntu main pre-release is as stable as a release date fresh install08:45
takov751So this problem manifest everything yaru-dark expect the popout window sand gnome-panel-calendar and panel-menu on the right top corner08:46
mateuszmlotuspsychje you were looking for instance of bug #1865164 the other day. I can see them in /var/crash. What should I do, besides raising the heat on Launchpad? I don't even know what that package tracker-extract is about11:28
ubottubug 1865164 in tracker-miners (Ubuntu) "tracker-extract crash Ubuntu 20.04 2/28 Daily Build AMD64" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/186516411:28
lotuspsychjemateuszm: yeah im not really sure myself yet, but i affected it as i see alot of crash logs about it11:29
mateuszmI've also got a crash file for tracker-miner-fs. Same comment, I don't know what's it about11:29
mateuszmAh I've only got one file of each11:29
lotuspsychjemateuszm: its also known by the devs by now, cause hggdh found more relevant bugs here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker-miners/+bugs?orderby=-id&start=011:30
mateuszm(y)  alright then, they'll fix that. It looks like the rush before FeatureFreeze introduced quite a few bugs haha. GEdit doesn't start anymore, the boot splash screen is all borked up, my dad can't use his scanner anymore, and we've got two calculators XD 11:42
mateuszmI'm sure it will all work out eventually11:43
lotuspsychjelol11:43
lotuspsychjelemme try gedit for you holdon11:44
lotuspsychjeseems like to work here mateuszm 11:44
lotuspsychjeboot splash has changed in a spinning icon now on plymouth at my side11:44
lotuspsychjecalculators are both still here aswell11:45
lotuspsychjewich scanner is that mateuszm 11:45
mateuszmoh man, I was hoping I'd not be the only one with GEdit problems. It just throws a GLib-GIO-ERROR and core dumps. I was going to report it on Launchpad11:46
lotuspsychjemateuszm: starting gedit, or opening a document with gedit?11:47
mateuszmStarting GEdit11:47
lotuspsychjei noticed gedit reveived updates lately11:47
mateuszmYeah, yesterday. Didn't fix this bug :(  which was introduced a couple days ago I think11:48
lotuspsychjei cant make it crash11:48
mateuszmLucky you11:48
lotuspsychjeboth starting or opening a file11:48
lotuspsychje3.35.90-1 this is your version right?11:49
mateuszmYes11:49
lotuspsychjemateuszm: can you go test on a new user perhaps? lets rule out its user related?11:52
mateuszmI can do that, good idea11:53
lotuspsychjethe bugs i found with your error are old bugs11:53
mateuszmNot sure about the scanner, I need to ask my dad and see if EPSON hasn't released an updated package first11:54
lotuspsychjeok11:55
mateuszmAs for the boot splash, it's not "Ubuntu 20.20" in text font on the top left corner, and I have to press ESC to display the LUKS prompt.11:55
mateuszmCould be LUKS related11:55
mateuszmSame bug on my dad's computer11:55
lotuspsychjeah that could be, i dont use luks myself11:56
lotuspsychjeif you can reproduce, bug it11:56
mateuszmYup, I'm logging in on Launchpad right now11:57
lotuspsychjemateuszm: try to bug with ubuntu-bug packagename11:57
lotuspsychjethat pulls relevant info into your bugs11:58
mateuszmOh yeah right, good point11:58
