halvorswhat is new in beta compared to the development release, and how do i upgrade from development release to beta?12:55
lotuspsychjehalvors: https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2020/04/ubuntu-20-04-beta-download13:03
halvorslotuspsychje: But do i get the same result by installing updates on top of development release?13:05
lotuspsychje!final13:05
ubottuIf you install a development version of Ubuntu Focal and keep up with package updates, then you will be upgraded to the official release of 20.04 when it comes out. To make sure, type « sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade » in a terminal.13:05
halvorslotuspsychje: So the ZFS fix is available thru updates?13:07
tugapowerhi, using kde , pressing to add widgets does nothing, no errors, nothing. Can something be missing ?13:55
tugapowerinteresting, further info, if press add widgets on my main display nothing happens, but if press add widgets on my second monitor, the option appear on my main monitor, wtf14:03

irreleph4ntHi. I am installing Focal via debootstrap on a UEFI system. When I install the linux kernel inside the chroot however, apt pulls in grub-pc instead of grub-efi. Can I overrule that behaviour somehow?16:59
ChmEarlirreleph4nt, add a bind mount to /boot/EFI in the chroot?17:07
ChmEarlirreleph4nt, thats what I would try, never did this17:08
irreleph4ntChmEarl, oh, so is Ubuntu also in the business of seperating /boot from /boot/EFI? :/ I am new, actually. Switching from Arch to Ubuntu17:10
irreleph4ntChmEarl, for future reference: manually specifying grub-efi together with linux-image at least prevent grub-pc from being pulled in. Whether that works or not as of right now is unknown - still setting my system up17:25
ChmEarlirreleph4nt, I have a test LVM with 2 partitions for EFI system: /dev/maxvm/efi1604p1   2048   227327   225280  110M EFI System17:26
ChmEarlirreleph4nt, the other partition is type linux, root17:26
irreleph4ntthat's reassuring to know :)17:27
irreleph4ntDoes ubuntu run a paste service that you want people to post snippets to so they don't spam IRC?17:28
irreleph4ntI am running into a setup problem which I'd like to ask for help with17:28
oerhekspaste.ubuntu.com  or <command> | nc termbin.com 999917:29
irreleph4ntoerheks, thanks17:30
irreleph4ntI am installing with debootstrap, using the following from within my chroot: "apt install linux-base linux-generic:amd64 cryptsetup lvm2 openssh-server locales net-tools language-pack-de console-setup"17:31
irreleph4ntdpkg however quits with an error due to a "not configured yet" error on linux & linux-headers17:31
irreleph4ntpaste is here: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/mrvFH3yc6R/17:31
irreleph4ntignore me ... this is due to Ubuntu creating symlinks in /boot, which does not work when /boot is FAT32 formatted like in my case17:50
halvorsHmm, this doesn't seem right... https://i.imgur.com/H6CYPr9.png20:25
halvorsIt's in Norwegian, but basically says "Start with dedicated graphics card"20:25
halvorsWhat does that have to do with storage devices?20:25
ali1234halvors: nothing. it's asking you which GPU you want to run the software with22:06
ali1234i guess it is not specific to file manager22:06
halvorsali1234: The storage device? 22:06
halvorsI don't think its a normal thing to switch gpus?22:06
halvorsIs this intended for Nvidia Prime or something?22:07
ali1234yeah exactly22:07
halvorsI don't have that22:07
halvorsSo what is it doing there.22:07
ali1234neither do i, so i have no idea22:07
halvorsali1234: And it does nothing special, i'm not promted to select gpui22:07
ali1234well you wouldn't be22:08
ali1234once you pick that option you've already selected to run it on the dedicated GPU22:09
ali1234https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=GNOME-Shell-Optimus22:10
ali1234this feature is really old. that it appears when you don't have dual GPU setup must be a bug22:10
halvorsYeah22:10
halvorsTechnically it's Intel iGPU integrated in my desktop computer processor, but i explicitly disable it in BIOS.22:11
ali1234seems like all the option does is launch the app with "DRI_PRIME=1" in the environment22:14
halvorsali1234: I see.22:33
