ballCan I ask Xubuntu for the CPU temperature?01:34
Bashing-omball: Maybe, what shows ' cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp ' ?01:42
ballcat: /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp: No such file or directory01:49
Bashing-omball: :( will take one smarter than I - My result " sysop@x1804mini:~$ cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp >> 29500 " .01:50
ballPerhaps I don't have a sensor for it.01:52
Bashing-omball: debian: 'inxi -s ' give you the temps ?01:53
ballThat works!01:54
ballSystem Temperatures: cpu: 26.0 C mobo: N/A01:54
ballThanks!01:55
Bashing-omball: :D01:55

zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxhello12:29
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxI have installed the latest build of Xubuntu and then Spotify, but it don work as intended. White screen of frozen, yet clicable, interface. Any kwon fix or workaround?12:34
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxok nobody uses spotify13:26
gnrpzzjfhdjnijyfdfnx: I guess that's a spotify problem13:50
gnrpwhen you run it from the shell, you can maybe see error output13:50
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxno errors from the shell13:50
gnrpbut you should rather report the error to spotify than to xubuntu. Without an error indication nor source code, it is barely reproducible13:50
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxit appears to be a permission problem13:50
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxon the software catalog I found two disabled permissions13:51
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxmaybe the way the systems installs this package (something called snap )13:53
gnrphm, I am not aware of a permission system, but I never used the software catalog (guess you are talking about the gui client?)13:56
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxyes13:56
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxthe software center now shows a series of software from third parties like android or ios do13:57
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxbut never asked for permissions13:57
zzjfhdjnijyfdfnxI will try the debian package to see if it has less problems14:00
xu-help10wHello, I have a brand new computer that I'd quite like to get up and running today. I prefer to use the latest version of xubuntu rather than the LTS. My question is if I get the 20.04 beta will it upgrade itself to 20.04 when that's ready or are you likely to release a 20.04 version that should be reinstalled from scratch? Thanks for your time14:26
diogenes_xu-help10w, i'd rather wait the official release, you said you don't want LTS but 20.04 is LTS and yes beta should upgrade to final release same as 19.10.14:35
xu-help10woh im happy to get the lts if its the latest! didnr realise 20.04 was the lts14:37
xu-help10whmm well I'm really not sure what I'm going to do. I could install 19.10 and let it upgrade, I've never tried to upgrade an OS before I've always preferred a fresh install, but eh....I don't know maybe that's the best idea14:59
diogenes_xu-help10w, i always do fresh installs, no upgrades, that's probably why i have no gray hair  (almost).15:06
xu-help10wI guess I can wait its only 6 days isn't it? Bad timing on my part really but needs must when you get water damage :(15:08
xu-help10wI can check out what windows 10 is like for a week I guess, thanks for your help :)15:09

Guest24457Hi. I'm trying to install xubuntu 18.04 on an old Acer Aspire laptop. The installation is stalling in the "copying files" process. I'm seeing "Processes still around after SIGKILL. Ignoring" with the systemd-journald service. Is there any advice for troubleshooting this?18:16
diogenes_Guest24457, tell us more about setup, partitioning, UEFI/BIOS, HDD/SSD, what OS was there before.18:21
Guest24457Hi. I had Vista on there but have deleted all the partitions for xubuntu. I've followed the set up process to create the partitions. I have a 250g SSD.18:22
Guest24457The laptop has 2gig RAM and 1.4 Ghz CPU. I've created a USB bootable image using Rufus 3.918:25
diogenes_Guest24457, you pick automatic partitioning?18:25
Guest24457yes18:25
diogenes_Guest24457, maybe something is bad with SSD.18:27
Guest24457The xubuntu test image runs fine - no issues18:27
Guest24457Is there anything I can do to check the SSD?18:30
diogenes_Guest24457, yes, in menu look for disks.18:31
Guest24457ok. Which menu is this? The installation process or during the try-ubuntu session?18:32
diogenes_yes try session.18:34
Guest24457ok will do. Thanks for your help18:34
diogenes_no problems.18:36
