lubot<Alrond> Where is "switch user" option? To short time switching in GUI? I don't mean "su" via terminal. It was in prev.Lubuntu05:26
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> (Photo, 1280x720) https://i.imgur.com/Gr0FCu2.jpg Can someone help me out?08:02
guiverc@BhuvanTeja98 that looks like a GNOME error screen, not a Lubuntu one08:04
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> I was upgrading it to 20.04. it went low on battery. But the screen went off. I put it on charge but the screen didn't turn back on... When I restarted the system, I was getting different errors.08:05
guivercwas OS/release were you using?08:09
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> 19.1008:17
guiverc@BhuvanTeja98, if release-upgrade was taking place, I'd not have attempted to login via GUI until it completes. I'd have opted to treat as a power failure, boot 'live' system and `fsck` (file system check) your disks, when okay boot and login to terminal only, check sources (pointing to focal or 20.04), then attempt `sudo apt full-upgrade` to see if it'll continue upgrade process.08:19
guivercIf/when that completed, I'd have `sudo apt update` to check for normal completion, then `sudo apt full-upgrade` again, if nothing found - then reboot & try system normally.08:20
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> (Photo, 1280x720) https://i.imgur.com/MqiGxf3.jpg08:21
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> I went into recovery mode and then did dpkg for repairing broken packages and this happened08:25
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> (Photo, 720x1280) https://i.imgur.com/qeUyeKR.jpg What should I do now?08:26
guivercsorry I currently can't help. but i'm unsure of what you've done. my fallback should upgrade fail because of power outage etc is always a re-install (manual partitioning, re-use existing partitions without format) though that's more complex if encryption is involved (usually I go clean in that case & restore my user data from backups)08:29
lubot<BhuvanTeja98> @guiverc [<guiverc> sorry I currently can't help. but i'm unsure of what you've done. my f …], Thank you for ur help... I have been using Lubuntu since 2017 but I'm still a beginner... So I don't exactly know what to do...08:32
guivercIf you're patient someone else maybe able to help.. I wouldn't hurry to try and change things (release-upgrade can take many hours... up to most of a day, depending on hardware & speed of internet; so give your box/laptop time to work..08:35

user44I tried this on the live install usb also..    oh.. you need to right click on a file to get the right menu up.. Pick any file.. I create and pick a text file..10:09

lubot<Hill Ma> intel graphics? I saw some people hit regressions with i915.19:09
akemHill Ma: Yes Intel.19:10
akemI think you are right it could very well be because of the intel graphics drivers. I had a problem like that on another intel graphic machine. Though this one is older but still Intel.19:11

mtlnoobhello, where can i find command lines to upgrade lubuntu to 20.04? ive been using lubuntu/linux for 24 hours now20:30
mtlnoob'=D20:31
MunskoDidnt know that 20.04 was released. ty20:33
MunskoI just saw the comments on the release note of the version20:36
MunskoAnd some says about the upgrade that its a bit messy to do it20:37
MunskoAnd its suggested do a fresh instalation20:37
Munskohttps://lubuntu.me/focal-released/20:38
daxyeah, if you're on 18.04 (or earlier) you want to do a new install20:50
daxas far as i know, 19.10 -> 20.04 should be okay20:50
MunskoYes, i found that the problem are the desktops enviroments problems20:52
MunskoWhat about the bugs in new version?20:53
MunskoIm going to install it20:53
=== ubuntu is now known as eddied453
MunskoHello22:09
MunskoI installed this thing22:09
MunskoI found one "bug" during instalation, but its easy to solve22:09
MunskoBefore on 18.04 i didnt need to make a UEFI partition for boot22:10
MunskoBut when i tried to make it on 20.04 it needs one "flag" called "esp"22:10
MunskoThe named flag is instead "boot", and the UEFI partition should be FAT3222:10
MunskoHope it helps someone22:10
wxlif you don't do manual partitioning then it does it for you22:10
MunskoYes22:11
MunskoI didnt tried it because i have windows too22:11
MunskoI think that im not the only one in that case22:12
Munsko_Is possible to Install Synaptic package manager on 20.04 or i can use only muon?22:30
wxlMunsko: i mean they're essentially the same thing with a different toolkit, but you can do what you want. you just add the extra overhead of a bunch of unnecessary gtk libraries.22:42
MunskoSo Synaptic is something linked to a desktop enviroment like other some programs?22:44
wxlnot exactly, no22:44
wxlbut lxqt uses the qt toolkit and most of the programs we have chosen use it as well22:45
wxlthis is also true with kubuntu22:45
wxl(and kde)22:45
wxleverything else mostly uses gtk and in some cases (i think of ubuntu proper here) they just use gtk and qt willy nilly and don't even care one way or another22:45
wxlbut in the case of muon and synaptic they are both front ends to apt/dpkg which the same ultimate functonality, so i don't think synaptic is going to provide you any benefit22:46
MunskoWell, but i understand that i will have some problems22:46
wxlyou won't have problems. you're just adding extra stuff.22:46
wxlwithout getting any real value out of it.22:46
wxli mean if you wanted, you could install all of the desktop environments available on top of lubuntu. it would be silly. but you could do it.22:47
guivercMunsko, I have synaptic installed on my system, the cost is there (memory wasted etc) - https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/synaptic s it does require GTK3 you'll note22:47
wxlit wouldn't necessarily cause you problems. it might be confusing, though22:47
MunskoMy problem is that i dont understand the filter thing of muon22:47
wxlwhat are you trying to do?22:48
MunskoAnd i was very nice with synaptic22:48
MunskoWell i tried to search wine22:48
Munskoand nothing appears22:48
Munskobut when i search manually22:48
MunskoIt is there22:48
MunskoHappened me too with anothe rpackage22:48
wxllet me see if i can reproduce this22:48
wxlagain it would be very weird, because both programs are frontends to apt/dpkg22:49
MunskoYes22:49
wxlin the end they're both just doing `apt-cache search wine`22:49
MunskoAs i saw that thing i thought that was bugged of smth22:49
Munskobecause "wine" exists in the list22:49
MunskoI tried it again and no results22:49
wxli cannot reproduce22:50
wxli see all kinds of results for "wine"22:50
wxlyou did a fresh install of 20.04. did you skip the integrity check at the boot screen of the installer by chance?22:52
MunskoHmm22:53
MunskoI installed it and no message like that appeared22:53
MunskoWhat seems to me strange was that in 18.04 i was able to install without enter in the livecd22:54
wxlif you didn't notice it then it probably ran22:54
MunskoI mean, without seeing the desktop enviroment and all those things22:54
wxlyep, different installer22:54
MunskoIt forced me to enter there before instal22:54
MunskoI have that problem that i mentioned with the UEFI22:54
Munskobut after that looks fine22:54
wxlthat's not really a problem per se22:54
wxldid you check the hashes of the downloaded iso22:54
wxl?22:55
Munskonope22:55
Munskobut should it not be installed correctly if that doesnt correct?22:55
MunskoI mean, is very unprobable that the only problem should be the cache thing22:55
wxlyeah well i guess it's remotely possible you had a download error and either accidentially skipped the integrity check or had a fail on the integrity check but continued anyways22:55
wxlif either of those were the case, you could have a faulty install22:55
MunskoYes, but nothing happened22:56
MunskoI formated the linux partitions22:56
wxlmuon's not working, but it works here22:56
wxlso something happened :)22:56
MunskoYes22:56
MunskoI know that22:56
MunskoIm check where i can found that cache thing22:56
wxli don't know what you're talking about with regards to cache. cache of what?22:56
MunskoYou said upper that the operation of search in the muon package manager was something like22:58
MunskoI cant find the mssg22:58
Munskoapt-cache search wine`22:58
MunskoSomething like that22:58
wxlit's not that22:59
MunskoWell22:59
wxlit's something else22:59
MunskoI tried something more22:59
wxlgo run it in terminal and see what happens22:59
Munskoi put 2048 n the bar22:59
Munskoand the game is there22:59
MunskoIt comes installed with the so22:59
wxlsure does22:59
wxlthe search should also return gnome-2048 which is not installed22:59
MunskoOnly i result there23:00
Munskothe qt version23:00
Munskofirefox is too there23:01
wxlthen there's something wrong with your system23:01
MunskoWhen i installed i do it without internet connection23:01
Munskomaybe the problem is there23:01
wxlquite possibly23:01
Munsko-.-23:01
MunskoSo i should delete all and start again,right?23:02
wxlyou should plug it in23:02
wxlthe package manager is always going to use the internet23:02
