MunskoI installed another .debs sucefully00:34

MunskoI tried to install it from the Muon, but theres only 11 and 8 java version00:35
lubot<Hill Ma> 10 is eol01:06
MunskoSo there's no way to install it? I need exactly that version for run a game( i did that on 18.04 so i know that works, just now in 20.04 don't)01:09
lubot<Mateusz Konieczny> @Munsko [<Munsko> So there's no way to install it? I need exactly that version for run a …], It may be possible, but in general there is no support for it.01:12
MunskoI see01:13
MunskoBut the problem that i have is because of the EOL?01:13
MunskoOr is because another thing?01:13
lubot<Mateusz Konieczny> From what I see http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/lubuntu/releases/ has no very old versions listed for download01:15
MunskoI got it from a launchpad of Ubuntu, dont know if its official01:17
MunskoBut i know that worked at least in 18.0401:17
Munsko(Dont know if i can share those type of links)01:17

lubot<aptghetto> Tuor, yes, they should, but they don't08:34
Tuor^^08:35
lubot<aptghetto> lubuntu.net is not related to Lubuntu08:39

moveslowHello everyone :) I'm sorry for disturbing you, but do someone know about webservers here? :)16:30
MunskoHello16:31
MunskoWhat u need to do?16:31
MunskoIs related to instalation or is another type of problem?16:32
moveslowNo-no, not about installation, mostly about security(just a question, kinda simple)16:32
MunskoOh, i dont have idea about that, sorry16:33
lubot<aptghetto> I recommend you to ask in a channel of the webserver in question, especially if it is about security16:33
moveslowNp, thanks anyway :)16:34
moveslowaptghetto: webserver channel? Didn't know there's one. #webserver?16:34
MunskoHe mean for example #apache16:34
MunskoOr the program that u use16:34
moveslowah. thanks! :D16:34
moveslowWill try that :)16:34
lubot<aptghetto> just out of curiosity: what is the question?16:35
moveslowaptghetto: Nothing special to be honest. My friend decided to set up LAMP on his own PC instead of rent one and he also don't have a domain name, so the like will be like -> 123.123.123.123:80 for example. If about this webpage will know only 2-3 ppl, is it save to leave it as it is without domain name?16:37
moveslowthe link* sorry16:38
lubot<aptghetto> If he has a public IP, everyone can reach the webserver.16:40
moveslowaptghetto: but only if know his IP, right?16:41
=== TheMetamorphosis is now known as Metamorphosis
lubot<aptghetto> A bot don't need to "know" the IP address. Bots can ping IP ranges and gather information16:49
lubot<aptghetto> I recommend to spend money for a managed webserver by a hoster16:49
lubot<aptghetto> And if he uses XAMPP instead of LAMP, then there are a lot of other problems to address, not only the webserver16:49
moveslowaptghetto: Oh, thank you!16:53
lubot<aptghetto> But please ask also in other channels. It is always better not to rely only on one answer16:54

danerikWas going to try 20.04 but when I run sudo do-release-upgrade I get "No new release found"... Software Sources has Normal releases set. FTP server (ftp.acc.umu.se) has a Focal distribution with packages available. So.... what gives?20:08
danerikMy currently installed release is 19.10, btw, and fully upgraded.20:09
wxldanerik: do-release-upgrade -d20:16

sygnitHello, I am newer to Linux, I had lubuntu 19.04 and moved to Peppermint OS this morning to see what it was about, and came back (upgrading to 20.04 on the way) and the install and everything else worked find, when I moved over to Peppermint and now back to Lubuntu my sound is not working at all. It was previously on 19.04 though I remember I had to do something to fix it then too but can't remember what. I have a Acer 15 Chromebook with a Intel sound21:08
sygnitcard 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation Atom/Celeron/Pentium Processor x5-E8000/J3xxx/N3xxx Series High Definition Audio Controller (rev 35) comes up when i lspci. Any and all help would be appreciated.21:08
lubot<heysoundude> @wxl [<wxl> danerik: do-release-upgrade -d], -d switch does what?21:39
wxlhttps://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/focal/en/man8/do-release-upgrade.8.html21:40
danerikoh... Focal is still a development release? Says on homepage it is released?21:44
wxlno, it's confusing21:46
wxllts releases aren't really offered as new releases through the upgrade tooling until the first point release21:46
danerikthat is confusing. thanks though :)21:46
wxlyep21:49
lubot<heysoundude> @wxl [<wxl> no, it's confusing], Indeed21:55
lubot<heysoundude> But that -d makes all the difference in the world22:04

ubottuLaunchpad bug 1875522 in ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) "suggest removing -d requirement to upgrade to new releases" [Undecided,Confirmed]22:05
lubot<heysoundude> That wouldn’t be the worst thing.  … I’m doing the upgrade as I speak. It’s going faster than any I’ve done previously.22:13
danerik@wxl do-release-upgrade completed without a hitch. In fact, smoothest release-transition ever. :)23:17
