I keep seeing freeze reports with nothing left in the journal [08:11] morning Laney, btw [08:11] ... in other peoples' bugs [08:12] I like it when journald decides to rate limit in the middle of the interesting part of the log [08:12] (didn't happen this time) [08:19] kenvandine: bionic daily builds are still failing https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-cdimage/+livefs/ubuntu/bionic/ubuntu/ [08:32] hey desktoppers [08:33] seb128, oSoMoN, apparently the libreoffice help patch didn't work out, so trying to be more convincing https://launchpadlibrarian.net/479522892/libreoffice_1%3A6.4.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.2_1%3A6.4.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.3.diff.gz [08:34] Laney, hey, update for bios! :) [08:35] Laney, P8Z77-V LX BIOS 2501 [08:38] get it in fwupd [08:38] :> [08:38] well, LVFS →fwupd [08:53] ricotz, hey, yeah I saw that, I checked the deb yesterday evening :( [09:10] hey ricotz === Nafallo_ is now known as Nafallo [09:15] * Laney fixes gnome-photos autopkgtest failure [09:16] adwaita-icon-theme dropped the dep chain that used to bring in librsvg2-common [09:16] debian bug #959584 [09:16] Debian bug 959584 in src:gnome-photos "gnome-photos: FTBFS: FAILED: src/photos-resources.c" [Serious,Open] http://bugs.debian.org/959584 [09:20] hi there :) [09:20] have you got a working preseed file and boot options for auto install ? [09:31] Laney, gtk+3.0 from proposed should fix that [09:31] retrying with the new gtk should work [09:32] Laney, ignore that, similar fallout I guess [09:32] I though it was gnome-photos triggering the gtk test [09:32] same problem different pkg [09:33] * Laney spanks bigon! [09:33] right [10:38] having an icon theme depending on a library looked really wrong to me :p [10:48] bigon: gtk doesn't try to load the svg when the .symbolic.png is there, right? [10:50] Looks like adwaita-icon-theme in Ubuntu is buggy in this respect btw [11:03] adwaita-icon-theme ubuntu/master 5db8d70 Iain Lane debian/rules * rules: Put the PNGs generated by gtk-encode-symbolic-svg in a-i-t * https://deb.li/3h0cs [11:03] adwaita-icon-theme ubuntu/master b3f0c70 Iain Lane debian/changelog * Update changelog * https://deb.li/8vhv [11:03] ^- [11:03] adwaita-icon-theme ubuntu/master 43b25bd Iain Lane debian/changelog * Finalise changelog * https://deb.li/3NUyn [11:03] adwaita-icon-theme signed tags e98f6fa Iain Lane ubuntu/3.36.1-2ubuntu2 * adwaita-icon-theme Debian release 3.36.1-2ubuntu2 * https://deb.li/Rw2e [11:58] Laney: debian is also not ok in that regard [11:58] isn't it? [12:00] ah no, we have only 1 pkg in debian [12:05] ricotz, FYI, I've fixed (worked around, really) the firefox s390x build failures in the stable branches, and I've merged back the change in the beta branches [12:05] (this is bug #1878292) [12:05] bug 1878292 in firefox (Ubuntu) "firefox FTBFS on s390x" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1878292 [12:09] hi, is fractional scaling supposed to be working on wayland too on 20.04? [13:31] need help here https://askubuntu.com/questions/1238696/preseed-autoinstall-does-not-work-on-20-04 about preseed :) [13:39] bigon: indeed, although it makes me wonder if we should drop shipping the .svgs [14:07] Laney: oh good, failed for a different reason now :) [14:07] Laney: i needed to open the track for gnome-3-34-1804 [14:07] Laney: done [14:10] woohoo! [14:24] oSoMoN, hi, great! [15:08] ackk, it's another gsettings key to set on wayland, the g-c-c control isn't working there which is bug #1871864 [15:08] bug 1871864 in gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) "Toggle "Fractional Scaling" does nothing on wayland" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1871864 [15:08] hi there desktopers [15:09] hey Heather, how are you? [15:09] i'm alright... why are you here and not with your new baby? [15:10] I just sit a the computer 3 minutes ago, everyone is sleeping [15:10] sat* [15:10] everyone is sleeping... how nice is that :) [15:10] indeed, I bet that's not going to happen often [15:11] in fact it's around time to go wake up the older one [15:11] I'm just taking a few minutes break and enjoying a coffee :) [15:11] XaT, the person the most likely to be able to help you is off this week, maybe open a bug on launchpad [15:11] * hellsworth cheers seb128 with her coffee [15:11] cheers! [15:11] :) [15:11] seb128 thx [17:14] seb128, hellsworth, hi, looks like the libreoffice patch finally worked [17:14] https://git.launchpad.net/~libreoffice/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/commit/?h=wip/ricotz-groovy-6.4 [17:15] ricotz great job!!!! [17:15] which ppa might i find this build in? [17:15] also were there autopkgtests run? [17:15] hellsworth, please test it https://launchpad.net/~ricotz/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages?field.name_filter=&field.status_filter=published&field.series_filter=focal [17:16] gladly! [17:16] i wonder why the arm builds failed [17:17] there's no build log.. [17:17] I assume they got killed due to some builder issue [17:17] seems reasonable === ijohnson is now known as ijohnson|lunch [17:20] hrm ... is there no right click menu in nautilus anymore in 20.04 ? (my GF just selected about 1000 photos from a folder (ctrl-click selection), right clicked and 30min of selecting files were unselected ... and no menu shows up) [17:41] ricotz: for some reason i don't see this package in a ppa when i have added the ppa to my test vm : https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/FpDR6p5Wjy/ [17:41] i see the 1:6.4.3-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 build but no .3 .. [17:42] the .3 look like it was built for focal. i'm testing on a focal system. what am i missing for this to show up? [17:42] hellsworth, probably some launchpad issues (similar to the interrupted arm builds) [17:43] so some very large publishing delay [17:43] ok then i'll just try later. thanks :) === ijohnson|lunch is now known as ijohnson [17:53] hellsworth, ricotz: some of my arm* PPA builds got killed too [17:53] thanks for the verification oSoMoN [20:10] ogra, hum, that should work, can you reproduce the issue? [20:11] yep ... opening nautilus and right-clickin on ym laptop doesnt open anything [20:12] just selects like i would have left-clicked [20:12] (or trashes the existing selection) [20:13] i wonder if some broken setting persisted the upgrade, both laptops were upgraded from 16.04 ... not really running 18.04 at all, just using it to move on to 20.04 [20:13] so i wonder if settings only get migrated once you logged in once into 18.04 [20:14] OH ! [20:15] so the right button on the touchpad acts as left-click ... but a two finger tap seems to prperly emit a right click [20:15] how weird [20:40] ogra, maybe check what "Mouse click emulation" in Tweaks -> Keyboard & Mouse is set to, sounds like it could be on fingers rather than maybe area before or something [20:56] checking [20:57] ahayzen, hmm, so i cant have both like it always was ? [20:57] seems these settings are mutually exclusive [20:58] oh, i get both when disabling finger [20:58] how illogical [20:58] (and how did it get set on both laptops ... hmm ) [20:58] ahayzen, thx !!! [20:59] not sure how it works, just been caught out by it with different styles of touchpads before :-) [23:04] I've had a heck of a time trying to launch a VNC session that isn't the main desktop on Ubuntu 20.04. I'd like to be able to launch a session of specific resolution, and also have multiple sessions. [23:05] My host computer has 4 monitors, so, it makes sense to have a couple of VNC sessions open to the Ubuntu machine next to me. [23:06] More specifically, I can launch vncserver all day. I've tried multiple combinations of options in xstartup, none work properly. Most result in a blank screen. The only one that halfway works is xfce4, but that looses mouse after a while, and some windows are not draggable/sizable, so it's really not working [23:07] most examples involve spawning gnome-session, but that's never worked for me.
