LaneyTrevinho: we haz .3s!10:32
jennisHello11:37
jennisHopefully this is the right place...11:37
jennisI'm using Ubuntu 20.04 and i've connected to an external monitor (which has builtin speakers) via HDMI. I've changed my sound output device to my headphones (and also tried to just change it to the default laptop speakers) but the output won't change from the external monitor11:38
jennisAny ideas?11:38
jennisI've installed pulse audio (as suggested by some stack overflow posts) but I'm only able to select which output device to use by application11:39
TrevinhoLaney: yep, I saw that too :)13:00
seb128Trevinho, Laney, wooot :)13:02
Trevinhoyeah, wasn't too late at the end :)13:02
hellsworthgood morning desktopers14:16
kenvandinehellsworth: good morning14:17
kenvandinebut ignore me... i'm not here :)14:17
hellsworthhaha hi kenvandine, now go not work :)14:18
marcustomlinson🤦🏻‍♂️14:18
* kenvandine is still trying to catch up on USN refreshes... 14:19
marcustomlinsonkenvandine: once you do there'll just be more14:20
kenvandineyup14:20
oSoMoNgood morning hellsworth (and kenvandine, I've seen you hiding behind a USN!)14:23
hellsworthhi yall :)14:23
kenvandineanyone here been running gnome-3-28-1804 and gnome-3-34-1804 from candidate?14:25
hellsworthmine are both from stable14:26
kenvandinemind switching?14:26
hellsworthgladly14:26
kenvandinei've had updates in candidate for a few days, but i'm always hesitant to publish those to stable as there are so many users :)14:26
kenvandineautomated tests all look good :)14:26
hellsworthfair point kenvandine. i'll make it a point to keep it on candidate then :)14:27
kenvandinethanks14:27
hellsworthok both have been refreshed to candidate14:28
marcustomlinsonkenvandine: automated tests?14:28
* hellsworth wants to someday work on snaps again..14:28
kenvandinethe screenshots generated in the lab14:28
kenvandine:)14:29
hellsworthwhat's "the lab" ?14:29
kenvandinealso run gtk-common-themes from candidate14:29
hellsworthok14:29
kenvandinethe QA lab :)14:29
kenvandinecwayne's team14:29
kenvandinethere is a regression in the themes snap :/14:29
hellsworthoh right14:29
kenvandineelementary themes have changed paths... so it breaks on elementary14:29
marcustomlinsonkenvandine: I don't know enough about this. Where do you see this?14:30
kenvandinei get automated emails14:30
marcustomlinsonooh fancy14:30
marcustomlinson:P14:30
kenvandinewith screenshots of a bunch of different snaps running on xenial, bionic and focal 14:30
kenvandineeven with a bunch of different themes14:30
kenvandineso i can see if it regresses on a specific theme14:31
marcustomlinsonwhat triggers this test?14:31
marcustomlinsongnome-3-28-1804 and gnome-3-34-1804 only?14:31
kenvandinecron probably :)14:31
oSoMoNkenvandine, the chromium snap has actual tests running in the QA lab (using chromium's headless mode and selenium): https://git.launchpad.net/~chromium-team/chromium-browser/+git/snap-from-source/tree/tests?h=stable, that's very useful to catch regressions14:31
kenvandineoSoMoN: cool!14:31
oSoMoNmarcustomlinson, every new revision in the beta and candidate channels IIRC14:31
marcustomlinsonoSoMoN: for Canonical snaps only I assume14:32
oSoMoNbut that's configurable, talk to the QA team if you want to implement tests for a given snap14:32
kenvandinei have a snap-compare script which is useful14:32
kenvandinehttps://github.com/kenvandine/snap-tools/blob/master/bin/snap-compare14:32
kenvandinesnap-compare gtk-common-themes stable candidate14:32
kenvandinefor example14:32
kenvandinewill list files in both channels and show a diff14:33
marcustomlinsonnice14:33
kenvandinethat's how i caught the elementary issue14:33
kenvandineso i booted elementary in a VM to confirm14:33
oSoMoNmarcustomlinson, that's on a per-snap basis, but I don't think there's a strict rule, i.e. if we wanted to add tests for a high-profile snap owned by someone else I'm sure it'd be welcome14:33
marcustomlinsonoSoMoN: yeah thanks makes sense now14:34
marcustomlinsonhand operated magic ;)14:34
marcustomlinsonsemi-automatic14:35
