MrokiiHello. I have Kubuntu 20.04 installed (upgrade vom 19.10) and the backports-repository enabled, which, as it seems, provides Plasma 5.19. But for some reason the update issn't offered to me. Any thoughs what the problem could be?07:58
RikMillsMrokii: backports PPA does not have 5.1907:59
RikMillscurrently 5.19 is not buildable on 20.04 as it requires Qt 5.14 whereas 20.04 LTS has Qt 5.12 LTS08:00

TheGallopingFoxi am running kubuntu 20.04 with a nvidia card, everytime i put my machine to sleep and resume, all the icons and text are corrupt10:30
TheGallopingFoxits a fresh install10:30
TheGallopingFoxi can resolve the issue by logging in and out10:31
TheGallopingFoxi have created a hackish script kquitapp5 plasmashell; plasmashell > /dev/null 2>&1 & disown10:32
TheGallopingFoxwhich i can also execute to resolve the issue10:32
TheGallopingFoxi am using a Zotac GeForce GT 73010:33
tomreyncheck your systemd journal for related errors.10:35
TheGallopingFoxhow do i do that?10:35
TheGallopingFoxim not familiar with systemd10:36
tomreynin a terminal window, run   journalctl -b10:36
tomreynto quit it, type q10:36
tomreynto share the logs here, run    journalctl -b | nc termbin.com 999910:37
TheGallopingFoxok thank you10:37
TheGallopingFoxapart from that bug, kubuntu 20.04 is very nice10:39
tomreynnote there's also #ubuntu (which *can* be more active than this channel, and which is also suitable for diagnosing non kde/qt specific problems)10:40

lpranamI just did a fresh install of kubuntu 20.04 LTS but it gets stuck after booting and there seems to be no solution apart from forcefully restarting it. Right now I am taking from recovery mode. Any solution?12:16
IrcsomeBot<Swift110> Hey all12:16
lpranamearlier I had also tried updating to 20.04 from 19.10 but that had the same problem12:18
BluesKajlpranam, black screen at boot?12:19
lpranamBluesKaj gets stuck on splash screen (autometic login)12:20
BluesKajahh yes, there's a bug filed about autologin https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/accountsservice/+bug/184398212:29

IrcsomeBot<lpranam> earlier I had also tried updating to 20.04 from 19.10 but that had the same problem12:41
BluesKaj@lpranam drop to an VT/TTY, update and upgrade, then reboot12:50
BluesKajctl+alt-F2-F6 for the VT/TTY12:53
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Won't be able to do it it gets stuck before i can do it. On the other hand i did update and upgrade from recovery mode but no effect12:54
BluesKajwait til it gets stuck then apply ctl+alt+F212:57

IrcsomeBot<lpranam> ctl+alt+F2 does nothing its frozen13:06
ubottuTo get to the TTY terminals 3-6, use the keystroke Ctrl + Alt + F3-F6 respectively. Ctrl-Alt-F2 or Ctrl-Alt-F1 will get you back to your graphical login (Ctrl-Alt-F7 on 16.04). To change TTY resolution, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ChangeTTYResolution13:06
BluesKaj@lpranam, yes correction, try ctl+alt+F3 for the TTY13:10
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Nop , not able to get to the tty13:16
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Only able to so anything through recovery mode only13:18
lotuspsychje@lpranam: try recoverymode with root shell + networking?13:18
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Yes13:18
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Did that13:18
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> And then updated and upgraded13:19
lotuspsychje@lpranam: still cant get in your system after updates?13:20
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Nop, always stuck13:21
lotuspsychje@lpranam: not sure then, you get a loginloop back to login window?13:25
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Nop it just freezes and no option other than forcefully restarting13:26
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Freezes at splash screen13:26
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> And even the glowing logo of kubuntu gets stuck13:27
lotuspsychjecould be another bug then the accounts bug maybe13:31
lotuspsychje@lpranam: try F1 at booting logo to switch to textbooting, and please notice where things go wrong, try to recall the error lines13:31
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Is there anyway to pause at the log? It quickly vanishes and i get stuck on splash13:39

lotuspsychje@lpranam: wich command did you use to update system to latest?13:44
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> This is a fresh install. Apart from that usual sudo apt update, sudo apt upgrade in recovery mode.13:46
lotuspsychje@lpranam: try sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade13:47
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> With full upgrade 0 things upgraded or changed13:49
lotuspsychje@lpranam: ok, im out of ideas then13:50
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Anyways thank you very much for all the help to all the people who gave some ideas and tried to help :)13:51

IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Download couple of hours ago13:52
lotuspsychje@lpranam: would your system have an nvidia card?13:53
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Yes13:53
lotuspsychjei wonder if this is the 440 login bug BluesKaj13:53
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Previously i had tried 435 and 430 too13:54
BluesKajand I'm wondering abouit his OS source, whether it's up to date13:54
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> I can't even boot my bootable kubuntu and ubuntu in normal mode i have to chose safe graphics even when i am installing13:55
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> I also tried building 430.09 but build failed i cant remember the reason13:56
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> But i was trying to install this last week too and gave up13:56
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> I downloaded image exactly 2 hours ago13:58

manu27993-MOk.. rebooting now. Hope you'll be here after I come back.. :)14:16

manu27993-MIt was 100% , I brought it down to 60%. Noise has gone but no voice can be heard14:53
manu27993-MThe reader bar below the volume bar is going up and down on its own even without any sound14:54
BluesKajmanu27993-M, ok, open alamixer in the terminal and navigate to mic-mute, use theup/down arrow keys to find a setting that works, probly off should work14:56
BluesKajalsamixer rather14:58
* BluesKaj finds his glasses :-)14:58
manu27993-MActually, I can see two sound cards in alsamixer. One says HDA Intel HDMI, another says HDA Intel PCH. But only PCH has capture device. I selected PCH, clicked F4 to select only capture devices and turned down all the boost levels to 0. For the capture (where it says L and R) when I tried to turn it down to 0, it automatically went up to 35. Still I cannot hear anything from the mic15:03
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> 😢 still nothing15:03
lotuspsychje@lpranam: did you try a !nomodeset yet?15:04
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> Yes i have and it works but without driver I can't use my external monitor15:05
IrcsomeBot<lpranam> I have dual monitor setup (laptop screen + monitor)15:05
lotuspsychje@lpranam try the nomodeset to switch to another driver, 435 for example15:05
BluesKajwell. manu27993-M. I'm out of ideas, unless you don't have a mic-mute option in alsamixer15:05
