xu-irc47wCan we upgrade 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS already or do we still have to wait?11:11
pmjdebruijndo-release-upgrade -d is possible at least on servers11:14
pmjdebruijnwhether it's wise on xubuntu I'm not sure11:14
* pmjdebruijn usually reinstalls desktops11:15
xu-irc47wsudo do-release-upgrade -d -f DistUpgradeViewGtk3 launches the ubuntu gui11:15
xu-irc47wisn't there a xubuntu version11:16
diogenes_xu-irc47w, it'll be available whenever Ubuntu 20.04.1 is released.11:16
xu-irc47waugust 6 then, Iguess11:18
ggzdiogenes_: it was about some multimedia keys for volume not working anymore11:26

JasperHi, someone can help-me?12:18
diogenes_!ask | Jasper12:20
ubottuJasper: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience12:20
JasperOh, right, thank you, are here:12:21
JasperAlready search for a time, on Google, on documentation of focal fossa, Reddit etc, but I don't know unlock the lock screen on live session, already hit enter with password of live session with blank, "xubuntu" and others, on 20.04 the password of live session were changed? Or maybe my image have something broke?12:30
JasperSorry my newbiecie...12:31
diogenes_Jasper, if you find yourself in such a situation when the screen is locked in a live session and you can't get out, hit on your keyboard: ctrl+alt+f1, you gonna get a black screen that will ask you to login, the login user (sould be) xubuntu and on password just his enter (blank password), after you login, type there: startxfce412:35
JasperAlready teu this...12:35
JasperTry*12:35
diogenes_and?12:35
Jasper"Password invalid" I think12:36
JasperWill try again12:36
diogenes_then put in the password: xubuntu12:37
Jasper"Login incorrect"12:37
diogenes_or: ubuntu12:37
JasperAlready all12:37
Jasper:s12:37
diogenes_ok then disable the lock screen on a live session because that might be a bug.12:38
JasperHuum, while the install process run I were searching for PDFs and downloaded some books, but although I using the mouse and keyboard the screen locked... I think that in this time the installation already over ok, I will make some tests so decide if will reinstall the 18.04 that is much good...12:43

loocHello, i need help, the software app that came preinstalled with xubuntu is missing and nowhere to be found. I have it on my taskbar but when i try to open it, it says that the file is either missing, or the directory doesn't exist.21:42
gnrplooc: Which software app are you talking about?21:46
loocIt was simply called Software. I don't know any other software apps.21:47
well_laid_lawnlooc: right click the tasbar icon and it should let you know in properties21:47
looc''Software: Adds, removes or updates apps on this pc'' This was translated from italian so i don't know how accurate it is.21:49
well_laid_lawnlooc: see if this helps21:53
well_laid_lawnhttps://askubuntu.com/questions/1231932/ubuntu-software-doesnt-open-in-ubuntu-20-0421:53
loocI'm currently running the commands in terminal.21:55
well_laid_lawna couple of posts down there are images for different icons that are related to the different packages - did you see that ?21:57
loocYes, i did.21:57
well_laid_lawnk21:58
loocI have followed the karel instructions, but most of the commands exited with an error code 2:''E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)''22:01
doubledutchI have a bit of an embarassing problem... after an upgrade I've got a busybox prompt after unlocking eLVM23:22
doubledutchI think I maybe switched video to NVIDIA and it's not having it...23:22
doubledutchWithout a good browser, etc, is there a common fix for Ubuntu offering you a busybox prompt after recent update?23:23
doubledutchMaybe a good way to boot into no-xserver mode so I can edit config files or re-run smxi ?23:23
well_laid_lawndoubledutch: afaik the busybo prompt is because the bootloader couldn't find a root device or an init23:40
well_laid_lawnor the initramfs had a fail or the kernel had a fail23:40
doubledutchKernel yes looks like it after update23:43
doubledutchI shouldn't have removed old kernels23:43
doubledutchTHanks23:43
doubledutchgoing to look at avaiable boot methods again23:44
doubledutchif not I'll come back here and luksOpen it23:44
