dsmythiesThat dmesg now needs root persmissions appeared between mainline kernel 5.8-rc1 and 5.8-rc4 (I missed -rc2 and -rc3).12:53
dsmythiesI do no tunserstand the change, becuase the sameinformation is available in /var/log/kern.log.12:55
hggdh dsmythies: please see https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2020-June/041063.html& LP bug13:06
dsmythieshggdh: Thank you. I had not realized it was a kernel configuration change. I mainly work upstream in the linux-pm group, but steal the Ubuntu kernel configuration from the mainline kernels. In general I check for config differences, but missed this one.13:25
