tjaaltonenyc: 00:10  * enyc meows08:36
tjaalton?08:36
tjaaltonthat's hardly going to attract any response08:36
enyctjaalton: was previously (some days ago) described in #radeon and got some initial suggestions, to no luck09:44
tjaaltonenyc: test this pkg build: https://aaltoset.kapsi.fi/radeon11:18
enyctjaalton: that has only  -video-ati,  no -video-radeon  ,and only contains a /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ati_drv.so  .............13:39
enyc[therefore, I think, not for my chipset  ATI RS480  normally handled by "radeon" module]13:42
tjaaltonah :D13:58
tjaaltonenyc: now has -radeon too13:58
enyctjaalton: what have you done/changed/built ?13:59
enycbear in mind on the test-system i have already put in old xorg and old linux-firmware and old kernel (all of which worked before...) and that hasn't worked14:00
tjaaltonit worked only because xfce used the glx backend, not present14:00
tjaaltonxfwm414:00
tjaaltonas pointed out on #radeon14:01
enycpreviously (ubuntu 18.04) i had  both MATE and xfce workable14:01
tjaaltonI ported the patch mrcooper mentioned14:01
enycoooh =)14:01
enyctjaalton: i see now14:01
enyctjaalton: right, will test, as I have an actual ATI rs48014:01
enyctjaalton: but, what about rest of test-setup,  upgrade to ubuntu 20.04 pkgs otherwise again?14:02
tjaaltonyes14:02
enyctjaalton: W00T that seems to have worked, at least with 1 display outpur 14:11
enycalso now installing mesa-va-drivers mesa-vdpau-drivers va-driver-all14:12
enycok wiull test with the dual head setup that previously failed...14:13
enyctjaalton: now FAILs, so either something abdou dualmonitros - overall res  -or-  va-mesa-accll is breaking it14:17
tjaaltonso it's not a regression?14:18
enyctjaalton: the sual monitor config did work under 18.04 (and does on debian 10 live)14:25
tjaaltonbut not caused by this patch?14:26
enyctjaalton: at least- not fixed by this patch14:26
* enyc tries taking out mesa14:26
tjaaltonhuh14:26
tjaaltondon't14:26
tjaaltonmesa has nothing to do with it14:26
tjaaltonthis patch was meant to fix the corruption14:27
enychhe have doneso anyway and indeed no effect!14:28
tjaalton?14:28
enyctaking out mesa va driver no effect, problem still happens14:29
enyctjaalton: so, seems your radeon driver change does not affect THIS coorruption iddue14:29
enyci note appears more severe than ther ''shifted'' appearance i saw on onoline examples14:30
tjaaltonthen I don't understand what your issue is14:30
tjaaltonyou seem to have many, and keep mixing them up14:30
tjaaltonanyway, EOD here14:30
enyctjaalton: ok14:36
enycUbuntu X team!!!15:31
enycok gone on to found out  this screen corruption failure on my Ati RS480, only happens with all of  (Dual monitors plugged in, ubuntu 20.04 or mint 20, any desktop seemingly) ... older full set of  mesa packages,  older kernel,  older radeon firmware, older xorg ,  one of these fix, though  not sure I've tried ALL of those reversions at same time....      works in 18.04 and debian-10-live.15:33
* enyc expecting to give up and use a different grahics-card, but you have to wonder if some silly ubuntu 20.04 regression15:34
tjaaltontry any current distro and likely the same thing15:36
enyctjaalton: so...?  something 'hidden away' is at fault?16:18
tjaaltontry groovy live, it has a newer mesa17:03
enyctjaalton: ooooooooo ok an do21:39
* enyc jsut discovered, some completely different older AMD64 system with an ATI agp card, fails with corrupted screen on mint20 cinnamon, much the same way... if both these monitors attached21:40
enycIn this case,  AMD/ATI R200 [Radeon 9100]21:43
enycon  nforce3  chipset  amd board21:44
