arbirhello02:46
arbiris there anyway to automatically switch my graphics to optimize power consumption?02:47
IrcsomeBot<DarinMiller> Assuming a laptop, most power use is manually setup by the user as everyone typically wants different "automatic" settings.02:55
user|3103Kubuntu can support arm devices like raspberry pi03:11
IrcsomeBot<DarinMiller> yes, check out wimpy install script: https://github.com/wimpysworld/desktopify03:14

IrcsomeBot<Franzpow> how to report a bug to the distro? I am using the firefox version downloaded from their website and the system is not freezing anymore. The problem was with firefox downloaded and installed from the distro11:23
BluesKajodd, default FF runs perfectly fine here11:25
IrcsomeBot<Franzpow> That's a bug that happened on this computer. The other two computers I have are running fine on firefox so 1/311:27
IrcsomeBot<Franzpow> all of them with Kubuntu 20.0411:27

eeoshi everybody. Anyone who has been able to update from 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS automatically?12:22
BluesKajautomatically ?12:23
eeosBluesKaj: using do-release-upgrade12:24
eeosBluesKaj: or do-release-upgrade -c12:24
BluesKajcheck your package manager settings>sources> LTS only releases, and cmd is do-release-upgrade -d for pre-point release versions, or it was the last time I checked12:27
BluesKajeeos,^12:29
eeosBluesKaj: yes, that is already all done .... the point is that we were told that after the 06/08 we would have been able to update to 20.04 directly, and not through -d.12:31
eeosBluesKaj: unless I misunderstood of course12:32
BluesKajeeos, you're correct, my mistake, then just do-release-upgrade should work, but update and upgrade your packages first12:34
eeosBluesKaj: have already tried, but I keep getting12:35
eeosBluesKaj: There is no development version of an LTS available12:35
eeosBluesKaj: which is a very strange message indeed12:36
BluesKajeeos, make sure discover sources settings is set to "LTS only"12:36
eeosBluesKaj: yes, it is12:37
BluesKajeeos, trey sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade, then try sudo apt full-upgrade12:40
BluesKajtry12:40
eeosBluesKaj: thank you12:42
eeosBluesKaj: just tried no success12:42
eeosBluesKaj: 0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 0 not to upgrade.12:42
BluesKajok , run sudo apt dist-upgrade12:48
eeosBluesKaj: same result12:48
BluesKajmaybe you already have the point release12:49
BluesKajlsb_release -a12:49
BluesKajhmm, sudo do-release upgrade should work for LTS only 18.04 to 20.04... this has me stumped12:52
eeosBluesKaj: no,12:56
eeosBluesKaj: Description:    Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS12:56
BluesKajok12:56
BluesKajseems there's also a problem with ubuntu upgrade path as well13:00
BluesKajno LTS upgrade available to some sources, perhaps change your source location?13:01
BluesKajeeos,^13:03
eeosBluesKaj: not sure I understand this last point ....13:05
BluesKajeeos, change your software sources in discover to the UK , see if that makes a difference13:05
eeosBluesKaj: OK13:07
BluesKajseems eeos, you may still have to wait a few days, there's nothing wrong with your system13:14
BluesKajeeos, "the direct upgrade path" is unavailable at this time according to the gurus over at #ubuntu13:18
eeosBluesKaj: tried different servers including UK, Italy and Switzerland13:19
eeosBluesKaj: Oh! I guess that is the cause .... do they know the reason?13:20
BluesKajeeos, probly stll being worked on13:20
BluesKajnot the path, the OS13:20
eeosBluesKaj: thank you for your help, I will try again tomorrow13:21
BluesKajright13:21
eeosBluesKaj: I am cleaning up the /etc/apt/ as well meanwhile13:26

jtatriahello all! I just reinstalled kubuntu 20.04, but selected a minimal install this time and i'm missing the gnome-gtk style module in system-settings. How can i get it back? I tried instlaling kde-config-gtk-style, but apt said it was already installed. What am i missing?20:40
valoriejtatria: have you upgraded?20:42
valoriethe .1 was released yesterday20:42
IrcsomeBot<DarinMiller> @jtatria, These are the gtk packages I have installed: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/Nrvz9SqVpg/20:43
Roeyhi20:50
Roeywhy is it that when I run pavucontrol, I just get a dialog saying "establishing connection to PulseAudio. Please wait..."  ??20:51
IrcsomeBot<DarinMiller> Do you have bt headphone or speakers connected?20:55
jtatriavalorie i did a dist-upgrade after install21:00
valoriejtatria: suggest `sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade`21:01
valoriethat never hurts21:01
valorieI do it often with up-arrow in the commandline21:02
jtatriavalorie, ok i'll give it a try. brb.21:02
jtatriaDArin21:03
jtatriaDarinMiller, i have the same21:03
jtatriastill no gtk config module in system settings.21:03
jtatriaoh wait21:04
jtatriathey move it to a different place in the new plasma, nevermind, i found it.21:05
valorieI usually just alt+space and type what I want, such as '`gtk` and choose the appropriate place to jump to21:05
valoriekrunner is the best21:05
jtatriavalorie yes, that use to work before, because the gtk config module was a system settings module unde application style. but now it appears as a menu entry in that module, so its not indexed by either krunner or the system setting search21:06
valoriehmmm21:06
valoriethat doesn't sound right21:07
jtatriawell, before it was like this: https://userbase.kde.org/File:SystemSettingsGTK.png21:07
valoriein fact that sounds like a bug21:07
IrcsomeBotAndrew Ulrich was added by: Andrew Ulrich21:07
valorieyou can easily file a bug in the cli by `ubuntu-bug systemsettings` and following the prompts21:08
jtatrianow it looks lke this: https://pasteboard.co/JljDi6u.png21:08
jtatriavalorie: notice how the option was demoted from full module to entry under the "application style" module.21:08
jtatriavalorie but it's missing abunch of options21:09
valoriethen it might be worthwhile filing a bug on bugs.kde.org as well21:12
valorieand linking them21:12
valorieerr21:12
valoriedon't link21:12
valoriebecause one is a bug of krunner and search not finding the option21:13
valoriethe other is options going missing21:13
jtatriavalorie, i don't think its a bug in krunner. it sounds more like a feature change in system settings21:16
valorieit's a bug that it doesn't find it21:16
valorieperhaps caching, perhaps something else21:16
valorieif it isn't filed, it won't be fixed21:17
valorieor most probably will not21:17
jtatriavalorie but hte bug woudn't be against krunner. krunner is indexing system-settings modules ok, the problem is that the dialog is no longer a module, it;s embedded in the "application style" module.21:17
valoriethat's fair21:18
valoriebut krunner is about discoverability21:18
jtatriavalorie so it's by design in plasma21:18
valoriewell, plasma and krunner should play well together21:23
viewer|0I have  question21:59
viewer|0Is kubuntu plasma version updated to the newest version?22:00
mparilloIf you run the development version (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/), yes.22:03
viewer|0Thanks mparillo xD22:08
