Any idea when the update process from Kubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 will be considered ready for prime time? [03:49] Did not see a prompt yet. [04:11] @linuxophil, when deemed most stable for all LTS users, (ie. not just kubuntu, but other flavors, servers etc), refer https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/focal-fossa-20-04-1-lts-point-release-status-tracking/17604 (you'll note upgrades from 18.04 are still disabled .. working through a few upgrade blockers) [04:13] @guiverc, great to know! thanks for the info. Other scenario. A friend has a Kubuntu 19.10 still running. Can I safely upgrade there or do the same blocks apply? P.S.: I know 19.10 is already out of support. === JHMVampireHunter is now known as JHsoM [04:19] my 2c is upgrade asap; upgrades from 19.10 to 20.04 should already have occurred as far as I recall. yeah eoan/focal was delayed somewhat too, but pushed ahead b/c of eoan's EOL status was approaching; I stopped watching eoan so I'm not current anymore === heavyarms is now known as Legato === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [05:23] guiverc: !eol [05:23] oops [05:23] !eol [05:23] End-Of-Life is when security updates and support for an Ubuntu release stop. Make sure to update Ubuntu before it goes EOL so you get updates promptly for newly-discovered security vulnerabilities. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EOL and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases for more info. Looking to upgrade from an EOL release? See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EOLUpgrades [05:24] the above link might help with that 19.10 upgrade [06:02] Good morning [09:23] I'm on Kubuntu 18.04. Recently, when I try to suspend, the screen gets locked but the suspend doesn't complete. How can I check what's wrong? [10:07] @abhishekbatra, No idea, but very similar things happen to me. On suspend my Laptop just restarts cold instead of just waking up! [10:15] Mine doesn't respond at all [10:15] On Kubuntu 20 [10:20] Currently as I'm trying to restart, I see the error message "Failed deactivating swap /dev/zram2" [10:21] (Photo, 1280x720) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/QX5BmjmK/file_35185.jpg === brunosantos is now known as nicktest [12:20] Hi all === Arthur_D2 is now known as Arthur_D [13:10] The === walzu is now known as walzu1 === TheGallopingFox_ is now known as TheGallopingFox [14:43] A K was added by: A K === TheGallopingFox_ is now known as TheGallopingFox === ricardo_ is now known as ikarus [17:43] Hi, Tap-to-click and natural scrolling stops working suddenly, any fix? === abilash is now known as abilash__ [18:01] abisri99 was added by: abisri99 [18:49] @abilash, Some laptop have a very intermittent bug on wake where the pointer moves but does not register clicks or gestures. Usually closing the lid to force sleep, and reopening will "fix" it. I have attempted a command line fix, but have yet to find such a command. === ekuyucu_ is now known as ekuyucu === ekuyucu is now known as ekuyucu_ === ekuyucu_ is now known as ekuyucu [21:15] Hi, I was wondering, can I run kubuntu?. I have a pretty sh*tty internet that goes at like 50kbps download, So before downloading Kubuntu ISO I wanted to know first hand if I will be able to run it, I have an old notebook with 2gb ram, an intel 2.3Ghz dual core cpu with the intel IGPU. that's all [21:21] you know what CPU specifically= [21:22] although on 2GB RAM I would personally rather run Lubuntu [21:26] thanks to the "pretty sh*tty internet", they're long gone [21:27] well, 3 minutes before you posted ;) [21:30] oh [21:30] sad === kubuntu is now known as Guest76198 [23:23] hey I have to say, whoever configured the default sounds settings for vlc on kubuntu 20.04 did a great job. I like the base level. [23:23] bass level [23:23] 128k streams sound great [23:25] I keep the volume in vlc at about 70% and use the system volume to adjust it. [23:26] Every distro version and app seem to all have their own personality. Sometimes like line up just right. vlc and kubuntu 20 seem to be getting along really well.
