Maikone week off now03:53
lotuspsychjeyay03:56
Maiktime for some fun stuff and.... beer03:57
Maiki'm still in doubt if i should use the Pi 4 or the old netbook (that's gathering dust) to set up a server and install quassel core on it03:58
Maikdownside of the netbook is that it's 32 bit03:59
lotuspsychjewhats the specs of the netbook04:01
MaikIntel Atom 1.6 Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM04:02
lotuspsychjecan you upgrade the ram?04:03
Maikhttps://www.cnet.com/products/acer-aspire-one-a150/04:04
Maikshould support up to 1.5GB04:04
Maikbut it's a hassle to open it and change the RAM, HD and even the fan.04:05
lotuspsychjeright04:05
lotuspsychjewell im not a big fan of pi's myself, but for passive servers they are great04:06
lotuspsychjei like more the intel nucs04:06
Maikjust had a look, they seem not too expensive04:07
lotuspsychjefor your case both devices might be good running server04:07
lotuspsychjeMaik: yeah i sold very cheapy nucs for server usage already04:08
lotuspsychjehad a debian guy wanted a fileserver for his home once, got him a cheap celeron nuc04:08
lotuspsychjehttps://image.coolblue.be/max/500x500/products/137010504:09
lotuspsychje129 euro without ssd & ram04:09
Maikok, only the netbook is 32bit so i could either run Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 32bit server on it or i have to use Debian to keep 32bit support as long as it lasts04:09
Maikoh nice :)04:09
lotuspsychjethis nuc has a 8GB ram limit04:11
lotuspsychjeMaik: i revived my old acer aspire one netbook with 20.04 lubuntu with lxqt04:12
lotuspsychjeand it runs better then all previous releases04:12
lotuspsychjexenial and bionic lagged it04:13
Maikthat's great. Is your netbook 32 or 64 bit?04:13
lotuspsychjeits a 64bit yeah04:13
lotuspsychje20.04 doesnt have 32bit anymore04:13
Maikyep, true. Ubuntu dropped 32bit since 19.1004:14
Maiki couldn't even find a 32bit iso of 18.04 anymore by the way04:15
lotuspsychjeshould be still there04:15
Maikso if i go with ubuntu i could use the netboot/mini iso04:15
lotuspsychjenever tryed -server much before myself04:16
Maikhttp://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/bionic/release/04:16
Maikno 32bit iso04:16
lotuspsychjehmm04:16
lotuspsychjemaybe ducasse sarnold tomreyn guiverc might know?04:17
guivercknow what; what x86 iso are you after?04:18
Maik18.0404:18
Maikserver iso04:18
guivercLubuntu 18.04.5 x86 ISOs are available, as are other desktop flavors04:18
guivercnet boot iso was created, not sure about server04:18
guivercI think b/c they've moved to subiquity (live installer) for server, it's not i38604:19
guiverchttp://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic-updates/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/ for netboot i386 18.04.504:20

lotuspsychjemorning Maik17:51
Maiko/17:52
Maikissues with internet since this afternoon, Telenet says it's a worldwide internet problem.....17:53
Maikcertain sites can't be reached, wifi doesn't work anymore17:53
daftykinsi doubt anything going on worldwide is preventing packets being relayed by radios between laptops and smartphones and home routers ;)17:54
Maikbrb17:58
Maikwifi works again, somehow it's name and password changed so i had to manually put back the old ones.18:05
Maikwhich means i can hobby again this night and fool around with quassel core18:06
daftykinsthat's not great, i once had to go to a clients in an emergency because they used an ISP supplied router back then - and the ISP decided to factory reset lots of them around the island, very rude18:14
daftykinsi was quite happy to disable all that / move off ISP supplied routers soon after18:14
