[03:09] good morning [03:19] good morning [03:24] hey Maik [03:24] all the pies ready to get eaten? [03:52] lotuspsychje: hey, good to see you [03:52] yep, all done [03:52] hi there [03:53] good cuz i'm hungry [03:53] :p [03:53] lol, me too :D [03:53] one week off now [03:56] yay [03:57] time for some fun stuff and.... beer [03:58] i'm still in doubt if i should use the Pi 4 or the old netbook (that's gathering dust) to set up a server and install quassel core on it [03:59] downside of the netbook is that it's 32 bit [04:01] whats the specs of the netbook [04:02] Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM [04:03] can you upgrade the ram? [04:04] https://www.cnet.com/products/acer-aspire-one-a150/ [04:04] should support up to 1.5GB [04:05] but it's a hassle to open it and change the RAM, HD and even the fan. [04:05] right [04:06] well im not a big fan of pi's myself, but for passive servers they are great [04:06] i like more the intel nucs [04:07] just had a look, they seem not too expensive [04:07] for your case both devices might be good running server [04:08] Maik: yeah i sold very cheapy nucs for server usage already [04:08] had a debian guy wanted a fileserver for his home once, got him a cheap celeron nuc [04:09] https://image.coolblue.be/max/500x500/products/1370105 [04:09] 129 euro without ssd & ram [04:09] ok, only the netbook is 32bit so i could either run Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 32bit server on it or i have to use Debian to keep 32bit support as long as it lasts [04:09] oh nice :) [04:11] this nuc has a 8GB ram limit [04:12] Maik: i revived my old acer aspire one netbook with 20.04 lubuntu with lxqt [04:12] and it runs better then all previous releases [04:13] xenial and bionic lagged it [04:13] that's great. Is your netbook 32 or 64 bit? [04:13] its a 64bit yeah [04:13] 20.04 doesnt have 32bit anymore [04:14] yep, true. Ubuntu dropped 32bit since 19.10 [04:15] i couldn't even find a 32bit iso of 18.04 anymore by the way [04:15] should be still there [04:15] so if i go with ubuntu i could use the netboot/mini iso [04:16] never tryed -server much before myself [04:16] http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/releases/bionic/release/ [04:16] no 32bit iso [04:16] hmm [04:17] maybe ducasse sarnold tomreyn guiverc might know? [04:18] know what; what x86 iso are you after? [04:18] 18.04 [04:18] server iso [04:18] Lubuntu 18.04.5 x86 ISOs are available, as are other desktop flavors [04:18] net boot iso was created, not sure about server [04:19] I think b/c they've moved to subiquity (live installer) for server, it's not i386 [04:20] http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic-updates/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/ for netboot i386 18.04.5 [04:20] then i'll have to use the netboot iso. No big deal [04:20] yep, already there. Thanks anyway :) [04:20] : ) [04:22] now where's my José Jalapeno on a stick [04:24] lol [04:30] Time ! Exit stage right \o [06:19] good morning [06:33] ducasse: hey, good morning [06:46] hi there Maik [14:03] !test [14:03] you failed the test :-P [14:04] :) [14:05] :p [14:06] i keep praying the irc gods for ubottu's return :p === SuperKaramba is now known as BenderRodriguez [17:51] morning Maik [17:52] o/ [17:53] issues with internet since this afternoon, Telenet says it's a worldwide internet problem..... [17:53] certain sites can't be reached, wifi doesn't work anymore [17:54] i doubt anything going on worldwide is preventing packets being relayed by radios between laptops and smartphones and home routers ;) [17:58] brb [18:05] wifi works again, somehow it's name and password changed so i had to manually put back the old ones. [18:06] which means i can hobby again this night and fool around with quassel core [18:14] that's not great, i once had to go to a clients in an emergency because they used an ISP supplied router back then - and the ISP decided to factory reset lots of them around the island, very rude [18:14] i was quite happy to disable all that / move off ISP supplied routers soon after
