[02:17] good morning [05:53] good morning [06:45] Heya! [06:45] The demon!!!!! [13:00] hey TJ- [13:00] brought us a new difficult bug today? [13:01] not a bug, a demon [13:01] :) [13:05] nope, just dropping in for an ardour question [13:05] not my candy :p [15:39] TJ-: got more info on that wifi bridging? I've been at this for a few weeks now with no luck. Basically, I'm trying to get a deviceB connected through deviceA's ethernet port grab a dhcp ip from deviceA's wifi network [15:39] preferably on 18.04 using netplan [18:52] for those who missed it, i discovered bug #1856032 still occurs on 20.04 [18:52] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1856032 [18:56] lotuspsychje: Do not know that this is related - 20.04; CD not cleanly un-mounting that prompted the CD tray to open and not stay closed - not tested anymore lately. === pauljw_18 is now known as pauljw [23:18] So.....anyone know anything about using ubuntu to stream? [23:19] I've heard good things about obs-studio [23:20] Cool, good start. [23:20] For me the biggest challenge I see is getting the soundcard configured. [23:22] I only did one 'internet radio' broadcast once, ages ago, and it was indeed a bit strange; all the 'good stuff' used JACK, which I had never used before, and getting it installed and configured was a bit of work. I don't know if it is worse today, because pulseaudio is everywhere, or if it is better today, maybe the jack folks have made it easier to add [23:22] I'm using an m-audio delta 44, which has 4 inputs and 4 outputs. So far I've managed to get ubuntu to use it as the default sound device, and with some modifying of levels on a rather non-intuitive poorly designed interface on an app I found called Envy24 control, I've gotten that much to work, main sound comes out the 1/2 output. I imaging getting sound on the 1/2 input should be doable with the same fiddling, and I [23:22] can send my stereo mix there and select that in OBS. [23:24] Now, in Windows, Windows automatcally adds each pair as stereo devices, which means in Windows if I wanted to, I could select the 3/4 out as my primary sound device, and have my sounds coming out there. Which...I don't want to do specifically that. But I do run a teamtalk server for co-hosts, and I select the 3/4 in and 3/4 out for teamtalk to use, so I can send them a submix, have them on their own channel on the [23:24] board. But....with ubuntu showing it as only 1 device, I don't see a way to use the 3/4 in or 3/4 out with applications. [23:25] So....I"m hoping there's a way I can easily add the 3/4 in and 3/4 out as OS sound devices, and then find an ubuntu version of teamtalk, and set it to use those. And then, boom...I'm streamin' on OBS from linux, and not relying on 10 year old Windows 7 drivers that blue screen my computer.
