=== Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [05:24] Hello, my computer failed to update from a 5.4 kernel to a 5.8 kernel as i did not have enough diskspace, and broke my system, any easy way to fix this from a live DVD or is reinstalling the best option? [05:41] Good Day! [05:44] (Photo, 522x717) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/xOEcIklc/file_35685.jpg [05:56] Can someone help me figure out why I can get this sddm login to work for me "https://store.kde.org/p/1374247/" My login screen says QtQuickControls 2.4 isn't installed. So I installed "qtquickcontrols2-5-dev" but that doesn't seem to do it [06:26] @luna_, You must try first with livecd... [06:29] have a live cd booted, but got stuck in knowing how to mount ZFS to use chroot [08:31] Got the system saved now, just having a small problem, missing the kernel module to get Ethernet working, anyone can help me solve that? [09:56] what is "cross posting"? [09:57] please help i need turn on TapAndDragGesture on kubuntu 20.04 [09:57] lundrvs: posting the same question in various channels and/or forums/topics [09:58] luna_: keep in mind that if you continue to cross post you might be ignored or even get banned if it gets annoying as it is now. It's always gone after reboot, but I though about fixing it, if possible, so I don't need to do the reboots [11:32] No sound issues here. [11:33] i'd install all pending updates, ensure bios is up to date, too. [11:33] WFH hot swapping wireless headset dongles for both Teams and Zoom has been working flawlessly. [11:34] and if this doesn't help then check logs to identify hardware and codec, see if you're missing a newer firmware / codec configuration. [11:34] I have had issues with the mic on my USB cam occasionally turning my voice into Donald Duck, but restarting the app that uses the mic usually fixes the problem. [13:24] What can be wrong when i don't get any sound in Kubuntu ? [13:27] and pretty sure its not the computer as it works in awesome and GNOME [13:33] @bittin1, check alsamixer in the terminal disable automute [13:34] thats disabled but still silent [13:34] which audio chip? [13:35] Card: HDA Intel PCH … │ Chip: Realtek ALC1150 [13:35] and works in other WM/DEs on the same computer [13:36] ok, try sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel, then reboot [13:36] @BluesKaj, sure not sure its that however as it worked in BBB earlier today, but no sound in Spotify [13:36] BBB? [13:37] Big Blue Button [13:37] then maybe your spotify vol ctl is muted or very low [13:38] but sure gonna try a reboot and see if that solves it [13:39] there's anold bug with intel audio that doen't load the driver on kubuntu after new installs or kernel upgrades [13:53] Did not help [13:54] ah alright [13:58] its me being stupid, if you actually turn on your speakers the audio works [13:59] uhm yeah, that helps :-) [14:03] some users solidify the audio settings by adding this line to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, 'options snd-hda-intel index=0' without the quotes [14:04] was me that was being dumb [14:04] we all make mistakes === roberto_ is now known as roberto__ [14:47] kde === Mamarok is now known as Mamarok_InfoDesk === connor is now known as ctwilli09 === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [17:06] Can someone help me figure out why I can get this sddm login to work for me "https://store.kde.org/p/1374247/" My login screen says QtQuickControls 2.4 isn't installed. [17:21] the other package I would try is qtquickcontrols5-examples [17:22] assuming kubuntu 20.04 [17:22] kubuntu18.04 at the moment. Plan to upgrade eventually ;P [17:24] I just checked, 18.04 also has the same package... [17:24] QtQuickControls 2.4 is in Qt 5.11 and above. bionic only has Qt 5.9, so cannot satisfy that requirement [17:25] so you need focal for that theme to work [17:27] Is focal the name of 20.04? [17:27] yes [17:27] Ah ok. Thanks. :) [17:28] I suppose I should give 20.04 a chance. Havent tried yet just because I wanted to make sure most my stuff works but, I have some time off work, so why not. [17:30] Rik, how did you determine qtquick controls 2.4 were in qt 5.11 and above? [17:31] @DarinMiller, https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtquickcontrols-index.html [17:31] The versions table [17:31] ahh, I see it. Very good. [17:32] * DarinMiller thinks Rik is better than google :) [17:32] I have had to deal with bugs where plasma developers set the wrong required versions before, so knew where to look ;) === Mamarok_InfoDesk is now known as Mamarok === jack is now known as Guest30993 === Guest30993 is now known as oneeggeach [20:30] Hi, someone here has telled me 2 command's to configure the NetworkManager per terminal, can you say these me again pls?
