[16:28] <kedar_apte> I am using a NVIDIA GE710 card on Ubuntu focal.. tried using opensource driver as well as nvidia latest driver through ubuntu additional drivers section which is 440 and also tried using 450 drivers ... a direct download from nvidia website.....

[16:29] <kedar_apte> any idea if this is a standard? My 5 year old Radeon  looked nice and could drive 3 FHD monitors without any issue.....
[16:30] <kedar_apte> GE710 GIL with 2 GB DDR4 memory is supposed to be better... but the font rendering is pathetic... with standard and default settings
[16:32] <kedar_apte> Default Ubuntu settings are slight hint and subpixel ani-aliasing....while fedora default keeps hint at none and anti-aliasing as grayscale
[16:32] <kedar_apte> tried doing both settings in UBuntu and yet it is bad
[16:32] <oerheks> using the nvidia driver from their site, is unsupported. and that old card would do with the 340 driver perfectly.
[16:33] <kedar_apte> the old card is a radeon...it is properly configured by Ubuntu and works nice
[16:34] <kedar_apte> the new one is nvidia and the latest 450 is supported for ge force 710gil
[16:34] <kedar_apte> driver version 450 supports this card on linux
[16:34] <oerheks> that newer driver might not be suitable for 710.
[16:34] <oerheks> so, you know what to do now..
[16:35] <kedar_apte> even with old driver it does not work :(
[16:37] <kedar_apte> I would go with a Radeon card next time.....but back here in India, Radeon cards availability is an issue and on Amazon there are just a few listed cards....
