[04:35] if it helps: the beta is out, folks! [04:36] help testing the ISO is welcome [04:38] Beta will be officially out on thursday afaik [04:39] but the iso that might become the Beta needs testing :) [04:41] valorie: and it's a support channel, isn't it? I just have my thoughts on it since i didn't see a support question. Thus offtopic for me. :) [04:41] :-) [04:41] yes, support for users, and support for Kubuntu itself [04:42] it doesn't happen by magic! [04:42] i know :) [06:21] (Photo, 665x955) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/jvOG7MMf/file_36842.jpg box-office hit [07:00] Hey. My PC stopped responding after an update. Just nothing on the screen. I checked everything (including recovery mode), and finally selected a different kernel version (5.4.0-47-generic) and I now have two questions - why 5.4.0-48 crashed and why wikipedia says that the newest version of the kernel is 5.8 and I'm on 5.4? I do updates every day. [07:37] konrados, Ubuntu releases with a specific kernel, 20.04 released with 5.4 (the GA kernel) and won't upgrade kernel until 20.4.2 upgrade (for HWE users), which currently is still in the future, that will likely be 5.8 as it's what groovy currently uses [07:38] konrados, all security fixes that occur in later kernel releases are backported to supported kernels (ie. you're safe on 5.4) Your machine may not like a backported fix, thus why you're having to use a prior (unpatched in some way) kernel [07:43] sec... [08:57] I had to eat a sandwich and google the terms (GA, HWE) I think I understand everything now, thanks guiverc ! :) [08:59] konrados, you could have asked, but you're welcome [08:59] :) [09:00] I didn't want to waste more of your time :) [09:01] :) but when I (probably many of us use terms like that) we sort of expect questions, and have links sort-of-handy for detailed info when asked..., but thanks [09:10] thanks, I'll keep it in mind :) [09:20] Got allowed to stay here until end of October atleast [10:35] Shhhhhh101 was added by: Shhhhhh101 [10:36] (Photo, 720x1280) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/OS0ynLB2/file_36847.jpg I installed kubuntu but touch to click option for touchpad isn't appearing [11:13] Trying to upgrade from 18.04.x to 20.04.1 but "do-release-upgrade -m desktop" but getting the message "There is no development version of an LTS available. [11:50] Hello :) [11:51] Its possible to get latest stable version of KDE/Pasma5 on Kubuntu ? (focal) [12:00] @michellabrie focal already has the most recent stable version of plasma, but why not ask your real quastion, what's your issue? [12:03] question* [12:04] I don't have particular issue ^^ I just like KDE and Plasma5 :) (And I have one bug (fixed in last version) KDE about … recurring events modification in Korganizer) [12:06] If I check release schedule https://community.kde.org/Schedules/Frameworks, last version of KD5 is « 5.74 » (I run under 5.68, published Sat March 7, 2020) [12:06] KF5* [12:08] @michellabrie, run plasmashell -v in the konsole for your existing version , when the newest version becomes "stable" it will be added to the repos and then you can upgrade it with apt [12:09] plasmashell 5.18.5 (Last version is 5.19) [12:09] Ok [12:35] https://www.uploadimage.ca/images/2020/09/28/3233-9.png [12:47] @valorie, I will be more than happy to help. === giovanni is now known as Guest82746 [14:50] lubuntu === Lord_of_Life_ is now known as Lord_of_Life [16:21] I need help [16:21] in installing softwares [16:21] i want to start puTTy [16:22] but when i intalled, i face installation failed === dsf_ is now known as dsf === kubuntu is now known as Guest15744 [16:36] If you can let the channel know what you did, there is some possibility somebody can help.
