[08:05] lut oSoMoN, comment ça va ? [08:07] yo Laney [08:07] seb128, très bon week-end, mais cette nuit a été agitée [08:08] et toi? [08:08] bon weekend et nuit calme pour changer :-) [08:08] oSoMoN, bon courage pour aujourd'hui alors :-/ [08:08] It's a okay weekend seb128 ... how was the weekend? [08:09] was ok until yesterday when the boiler failed :/ Someone only coming to see it today. [08:10] the weather was not great but we still managed to walk a bit outside and go to a park yesterday, otherwise we didn't do much but it was relaxing :-) [08:10] marcustomlinson, nothing like a cold shower to wake up! [08:11] haha, the air inside is freezing enough [08:11] peace seb128 oSoMoN callmepk marcustomlinson [08:11] hey Laney [08:12] I bet you there's a spike in boiler failures right now [08:12] sucks [08:12] our heating came on for the first time yesterday as well, I was furious [08:13] yeah was a coooold night [08:14] my inner dad wanted to turn it off for another month [08:14] XD [08:15] marcustomlinson, oh, of course you are using the boilet for the heating and not only water, I missed that detail :-/ [08:16] my weekend was nice, a local brewery opened a 'tap room' at their place (tables outside, started raining, good times) [08:16] and then I went to the hackspace and played with some of the tools [08:16] want to make some shelves, how hard can it be [08:17] hard enough to hold a few books I’d say [08:17] dddddddddddddddddddad jokesssssssssssssssssssssssssssss [08:18] love it [08:18] :) [08:20] big scary saws are scary though, can confirm [14:36] Hi desktop people, I'm looking for your experience on qmake in debian packaging - I have a package that mosly is jut "dh $@" except dhauto_configure which calls qmake on a .pro file. My question is how to pass it something like CXXFLAGS to e.g. get it to build -O0 [14:37] I tried things like export DEB_CXXFLAGS_MAINT_APPEND := -O0 -g -Wno-deprecated-declarations -Wno-deprecated-copy and various others but nothing did affect it, so I thought I call out to people which have been built more qt5/qmake based packages in the past :-) [14:43] don't know personally, sorry cpaelzer, I'm not aware of any qmake projects we have, certainly haven't worked on that build system for ages [14:43] it's mostly meson / autotools in gnome [14:43] yeah with those I'd know :-) [14:43] cpaelzer: try https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=path%3Adebian%2Frules+QMAKE_CXXFLAGS&literal=0 [14:43] thanks for thinking about it Laney, maybe someone else picks up the question later and knows [14:45] thanks ginggs, taking a look [14:46] Mirv might know? [14:48] good morning desktopers [14:48] good morning hellsworth [14:48] hey Heather, how are you? [14:49] hey guys. i'm ok. it was a rough weekend. nice to have some peace and quiet in front of my computer for a change :) [14:49] oSoMoN, https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1897460 ... I didn't give much consideration to the topic, but do you know why thunderbird default to download in /tmp rather than $XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR? (which would probably workaround that issue since the vlc snap would have access to the downloaded file then right?) [14:49] Ubuntu bug 1897460 in snapd (Ubuntu) "VLC Snap Incompatible With Thunderbird" [Low,New] [14:50] oSoMoN, the issue is 'tb deb download attachment to /tmp and try to call the viewer on that, which doesn't work when you try to view a video with vlc installed as a snap' [14:53] seb128, IIRC thunderbird (and firefox too) hardcode /tmp as the destination folder to write files to open [14:53] there was a long thread about this in the snapcraft forum, let me dig it up [14:54] https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/sharing-files-via-tmp/1613 [14:54] there's also https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/opening-the-attachments-with-snap/9862 [14:55] and https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/cannot-open-pdf-attachment-with-thunderbird/11845 [14:57] oSoMoN, thanks [15:01] oSoMoN, but /tmp sharing is a difficult problem, it feels like we could easily workaround that case by changing /tmp to XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR [15:04] seb128, I agree. Hopefully this can be achieved without patching the upstream code, and of course it needs to be thoroughly tested [15:07] I guess the idea is that the download directory is for stuff you want to download and keep, and in that sense tmp is right for just opening and throwing away things once you're done. e.g. I back my downloads up (costing my bandwidth quota), but not /tmp of course [15:08] hum, right [15:11] maybe if things clear up quickly enough then it might not be so bad [16:05] ginggs: echo "QMAKE_CXXFLAGS += -O0 -g -Wno-deprecated-declarations -Wno-deprecated-copy" >> .qmake.conf did it, thanks for the hint [16:05] cpaelzer: yw! [17:03] hellsworth, have you seen https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2020-September/041198.html ? [17:04] no i haven't but reading now [17:07] thanks so much oSoMoN ! i'm now subscribed to this list..
