foxtrack"E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/aheck/ppa/ubuntu focal Release' does not have a Release file.10:36
foxtrack"10:36
foxtrackWhat's this error?10:38
guivercfoxtrack, PPA's are 3rd party software sources, checks to see they are maintained, trustworthy & suitable for your machine are all on you, that PPA was abandoned long ago (10.04) so why did you add it?  a decade of non-support should have been a clue not to add it10:40
guiverchttps://launchpad.net/~aheck/+archive/ubuntu/ppa  (note last upload was 2010-Jan-23)10:41
foxtrackcant add.10:43
guivercthe PPA should be removed ; https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu#Removing_.26_Disabling_Repositories10:44
foxtrackso should i go into /etc/apt/sources and delete the entry?10:47
guivercI would... it'll do you no good as it doesn't support focal/20.04, and anything in it will be so old it'll be of no use (and potential security-nightmare) so yep. I'd delete the entry10:48
foxtrackthe gui removal of ppa is telling me "failed to download repository information"10:49
foxtrackcould this perhaps be related to backports?10:56
guivercfoxtrack, sorry I do checks before adding PPAs, so can't recall if there are pitfalls post-addition of bad ppa. I'd likely remove manually via editor (or use "#" at start of line to comment it out in case of mistake)11:01
foxtrackis there anyway I can go back through with the .iso and repair?11:09
guivercthe error is only a single line in a text file that needs repair. As I stated last comment, I'd just manually remove/comment-it-out myself with editor, but I'd hope the link I provided would allow you to uncheck ppa to de-activate it.11:16
guivercPPAs are usually stored (esp. if added via command/gui tool) in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ where it should be easy to locate & correct/edit11:17
foxtrackfresh install.12:13
foxtrackthough now ive got several partitions that arent being used and have little information of value inside them.12:13
foxtrackthanks for the help though, @guiverc12:14
