IrcsomeBot<mastefed> Hi everybody, so I'm running Kubuntu 20.04 on a HP laptop. Sometimes when I try to shut down the system (using the menu) it restarts instead. What could it be?06:52
IrcsomeBot<YesEyeCan> Anyone got a fix for display showing flashing glitches06:56
diogenes_YesEyeCan, try to change the backend from opengl to xrender.07:08

amprxcHello, I'm tryting to install Kubuntu on my laptop from an external CR ROM writer / reader which is connected via USB to my computer. I'm able to boot on Kubuntu, but this last doesn't detect my laptop disk. When I run "fdisk -l", I can only see the CDROM disk space. Then, of course, the installer tells me that there is not enough place available.07:35
amprxcAny idea ? Thanks07:35
voicuhi everyone07:51

BluesKajdrupol, o/16:13
drupolI upgraded to KDE Neon a few days ago and I'd like to go back to regular ubuntu version. how can I do that ?16:14
BluesKajubuntu or kubuntu, either one will need a clean istall16:15
BluesKajkde-neon is not an ubuntu flavour16:15
drupolBut when I do: lsb_release -a16:15
drupolI get this:16:16
drupolNo LSB modules are available.16:16
drupolDistributor ID: Neon16:16
drupolDescription:    KDE neon User Edition 5.1916:16
drupolRelease:        20.0416:16
drupolCodename:       focal16:16
drupolI get this: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/fmkcJ2bJ7H/16:17
drupolIt seems to me that this is a Ubuntu KDE Neon flavour, am I wrong?16:17
drupolIn /etc/apt/sources.list, I found this: deb http://archive.neon.kde.org/user focal main16:18
BluesKajit's based on ubuntu, but it's a "fork" not a flavour16:18
drupolOh.16:18
drupolDo you think I can go back to the original Ubuntu?16:18
IrcsomeBot<nikp3h> @drupol, there is no "upgrade" to neon - how did you do that?16:19
BluesKajback up your data to a separate drive or partition then install (k)ubuntu or whatever flavour you want, kubuntu uses the kde/plasma desktop16:19
drupolniceplaces: I added the line in /etc/apt/sources.list16:20
drupolSee: https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=309&t=13527816:20
IrcsomeBot<nikp3h> @drupol, so you just upgraded some packages i guess. switch back to the ubuntu repos and you should be goos i believe ;)16:21
BluesKajthat's not officailly supported here afaik16:21
drupolOk I will try, so, just removing the line is enough you think?16:21
BluesKajbut that's your choice16:21
BluesKaji don't know ...somehow I doubt it , but you can try16:22
drupolnikp3h: I removed the line, did apt-get update, upgrade, dist-upgrade,...16:22
drupolhttps://www.irccloud.com/pastebin/pcQ5zJKh/16:22
drupolThat's what I have16:22
BluesKajdoesn't load here16:23
BluesKajanyway i have to go16:23
IrcsomeBot<nikp3h> @drupol, i believe you should backup your data and try a clean reinstall as suggested ;)16:24
drupolnikp3h: That's impossible... I have a corporate laptop... I can't reinstall :^(16:28
drupolHow can I reinstall 20.04 from a terminal?16:49
IrcsomeBot<nikp3h> @drupol, buy a new laptop... ok sorry that wasn't funny... but you shouldn't have done wat you did in the first place since it is discouraged everywhere.. … do you have any backup available?....16:55
drupolnikp3h: no, no backup. I guess there is a way to reinstall this properly16:56

IrcsomeBot<Andrius> Hey guys, I minimized Kubuntu installation window and it just disappeared. How do I get it back?19:23
serenitymaybe alt+tab and toggle to it19:24
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> Unfortunately, alt+tab doesn't seem to do anything19:25
serenityisn't there an install icon on the desktop?19:26
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> Desktop is empty, ie just a picture and mouse pointer, no icons, no taskbar19:26
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> I suppose I need to hit Continue or some other button on that minimized window for the installation to finish... But can't find a way to restore that window :/19:32
serenityis this a live environment?19:32
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> I'm not sure what you are asking for. It's a personal computer with unfinished Kubuntu installation and no other OS19:34
serenityIf this pc is empty, why not start overß19:36
serenity?19:36
IrcsomeBot<nikp3h> ie reboot...19:38
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> Will do that if everything else fails, but seems a little excessive19:38
serenityexcessive? We are talking about an empty machine and no config has been done yet ;)19:39
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> I mean, reinstalling the whole OS seems a little excessive for having minimized a window19:40
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> @Andrius, turn it off, boot from live usb again19:53
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> and you'll be good to go19:53
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> @Andrius, He won't be reinstalling, since he doesn't have anything installed in the first place19:54
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> Just turn it off and on19:54
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> I had to hold power button down for 5 or so seconds to power off. Partitions on the disk got messed up, I'm reformatting it atm19:56
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> @Andrius, using gparted?20:01
IrcsomeBot<GalantGTR> Is anybody know how to use omada ? It's a software for tplink access points controller20:02
IrcsomeBot<Andrius> Anyway, if there's no way to restore a minimized window, the option should be disabled imo. Maybe I will figure out how to report it someday. Thanks and bye.20:03
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> @Andrius, It is not a general problem I guess, I myself have heard it for the first time20:03
IrcsomeBot<therealriganb> Try installing first and then check if the bug stays20:04
