It did work for a while then suddenly I couldn't play any games using Lutris. So I uninstalled wine and installed it once more but this is what's happening. I can't do anything else so any help would be appreciated. Thanks. [08:56] this is a relative path [08:57] wine suddenly won't work for some really odd reason [08:58] I am very new to Linux so a bit thrown off by these sudden surprises after following everything to the letter [08:58] And I have used wine flawlessly on many other distros without a hitch so this is really irritating [09:18] @AndyKG, Try to use a little older version of wine(which will be more stable). It should be 1-2 minor versions older. [09:18] Than latest version of wine. [09:53] @sammy_v, Ok trying out the stable version 1st [11:12] Bluescreen? does anyone have a wild idea of what this is due to https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthread.php/77397-Bluescreen-after-login-and-kwinx11 [11:21] Hi all [11:21] @BluesKaj, Hey [11:22] @JPS72, hi [13:09] (Photo, 591x1280) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/Ub09hGnT/file_37499.jpg [13:10] Ubuntu wallpaper on my redmi note 7s mobile [13:10] Looks cool [13:25] 36'C .. cool! [14:01] i want to compile conky and conky manager on my system and want to install it [14:01] how can i do that? [14:02] It ain't in the repos? [14:03] well there so many [14:03] idk which one is original [14:06] https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky [14:06] https://github.com/teejee2008/conky-manager [14:06] https://github.com/zcot/conky-manager2/issues/14 [14:08] so do i only need to compile only conky manager [14:11] there is an app image [14:11] what is that? [14:16] (Photo, 1280x719) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/j8ETRu9S/file_37503.jpg [14:16] thats whati get from app image [14:22] Gentoo links to https://github.com/brndnmtthws/conky as the homepage of conky, so I suppose that is the right one. [14:23] Anyhow, it is in the repos: https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/conky [14:23] Personally, I wouldn't bother with an appimage. === eric_ is now known as elarson [14:26] there is a ppa for ppa:linuxmint-tr/araclar .. a mint one http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2020/07/install-conky-manager-ubuntu-20-04-lts/ [14:27] hey folks! I've been trying to make a switch to kde / plasma. I installed the kubuntu-desktop and things are working as expected, except for my vpn. I have to use openconnect with globalprotect. I've been using gnome previously and things were working, but when I use plasma-nm it looks like it tries to contact the gateway, but doesn't actually pick up the endpoint. this results in a authentication error. does anyone have any suggestions [14:27] for how to debug? [14:28] I thought it might be a secret manager issue where whatever gnome uses is conflicting with kwallet but I'm doubtful that is it [14:32] I'll also mention that I was also playing around with Enlightenment and the same connection did work when I enabled the systray there and started it up. that said it did use the same dialogs as nm does in gnome [14:35] hmm... so in a moment of inspiration, I see a `vpn-secrets` section of the vpn config that has `lasthost` https: which is what it looked like it tried to connect to . I'm removing that and seeing what happens [14:44] Well, I logged out and logged into plasma and my VPN was still connected so I'm going to see roll with it until I disconect and see what happens :P [14:50] Good for you. [15:19] ah i need lill help [15:19] actually i deleted .conky from home [15:20] and after installing package from directory that folder is not getting created [15:38] Synaptic [15:38] Is synaptic included in kubuntu? [15:43] murdock86: it's available, but probably not installed by default [15:44] you can check what's available in a given (k)ubuntu release at https://packages.ubuntu.com [15:56] conky does not create a conky folder nor ~/.conkyrc [15:59] longest tread on the forum. 2348 pages ... [15:59] https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=281865 [16:02] hmm, i wonder which software could have been improved how during the time spent on discussing this. :) [16:10] conky and cron, 1st things i learned programming. conky-manager ruins that experience. [16:13] @tomreyn, Thanks! === lex is now known as Guest75290 [16:48] i shared a folder through samba. but i cannot access it with other device. folder access is denied [16:49] (Photo, 591x1280) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/ttof1IJF/file_37511.jpg The folders are showing but cannot access them [17:32] @tomreyn, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5csaCSyfoo&t=559s [17:32] i followed this tutorial and it sucked [17:32] now im unable to change the system wigdet [17:33] also when i run conky or change the conf, two same wedgit overlapping eachother runs [17:34] and im unable to find how to bring it back to default stage [17:34] @2tomreyn [17:34] @oerheks [17:42] how to completely remove conky? [17:44] Sudo apt-get autoremove conky [17:45] Use it in terminal [17:45] It will remove all dependent packages also. [17:48] what about all config files? [17:49] @sammy_v, nice [17:49] Everything will be removed. [17:49] If prompted for config files removal, type yes [17:50] no i didnt get any promt [17:50] it just removed few packs [17:50] Hmm because it is with sudo auth [17:51] yeah [17:51] (Photo, 1280x719) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/i8DXyRLA/file_37512.jpg [17:51] @sammy_v, but [17:51] these === lex is now known as Guest81872 [17:51] (Photo, 1280x719) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/p0DDtPIY/file_37513.jpg [17:51] ? [17:52] Reboot and check. [17:52] Why don't you use sysmon which is default app for kde? === scott_ is now known as Guest16142 [18:03] (Photo, 720x1280) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/fvA4pIoQ/file_37514.jpg I have uninstalled and tried stable, development and staging. I deleted all traces of wine including the default prefix created. I have done everything but this is always the end. Any help before a switch distros? [18:03] @sammy_v, i still have those folders [18:04] What is inside the folders? [18:04] config files [18:04] in 1st one [18:04] in 2nd extra skins [18:05] @AndyKG, I used wine on opensuse leap 15.2. It works perfectly fine. [18:05] but i think the issue is solved [18:05] @SharGen19, Try manually deleting the folder. [18:06] cant it denies [18:06] can i delete it from terminal? with sudo? [18:06] Wait [18:08] @sammy_v, I came from using Manjaro for over a year including all those updates and never faces any issue like this. Installs but won't work, it's strange. [18:08] Use sudo dolphin explorer to delete the folder. [18:08] (Photo, 720x1280) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/eVMzWUIS/file_37515.jpg What does this mean? [18:09] Graphics error. [18:10] @sammy_v, I play emulators at 4k res pretty smoothly [18:10] Rpcs3 [18:10] And yuzu [18:10] @SharGen19, File manager -super user mode or sudo mode. [18:11] You will have to change directory to the folder. Then give delete command. [18:11] Use sudo in the command. [18:11] Best way is use file manager in sudo mode. [18:17] (Photo, 1280x720) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/8dgTOtOV/file_37516.jpg 😅 works after sudo😂 I have never had to use sudo for wine stuff before😂😂😂 strange [18:17] @AndyKG, Did you download the present wine installer from wine website or repository? [18:18] @sammy_v, winehq [18:18] something's not right huh? [18:18] If yes, better download wine from opensuse repository. This wine version will be supported by opensuse and work well. [18:19] Use package manager to search and install wine from kubuntu repository. [18:19] I downloaded wine from opensuse repository for my opensuse desktop. It works perfectly. [18:20] So for your kubuntu desktop use wine from kubuntu repository. It should work. [18:20] I will look into that, I prefer stuff from creators source mostly [18:21] It is not tested for particular distro and hence fails to perform. [18:22] Stick to distro repository for stable performance. [18:54] @sammy_v, uhm what? [18:55] @sammy_v, how? [18:56] (Photo, 1280x719) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/2kpdjat2/file_37526.jpg [18:56] ahhh [19:13] Tgvvv Ffvgg was added by: Tgvvv Ffvgg [19:15] @SharGen19, It is there in your start menu applications [19:15] @SharGen19, You are doing it all wrong [19:16] It is not a terminal command [19:16] Dolphin is name of kde file explorer. [19:16] First get your basics right. Please go through the kde and kubuntu documents properly. === lordievader is now known as Guest34115 === lex is now known as Guest38492 === anitax is now known as blackbelt_jones
