[09:04] It worked :) [09:05] you're welcome :) [13:41] FedeBosio was added by: FedeBosio [14:12] Hi! I'm being using Lubuntu for a while now and recently noticed this warning in the terminal that I'm curious about. It's actually nothing critical, but anyway, maybe someone knows something about it. … When I run any Qt app or PyQt5 script in `qterminal` (even `qterminal` itself!), I get … ``` Icon theme "elementary" not found. … [14:12] ```I tested it with several applications (`spyder3`, `qpdfview`, `designer-qt5`, `kcalc`) and the same message is shown in each case. I verified that it's Qt specific, since the message doesn't appear when opening GTK apps, like `gimp` or `pinta` (they raise a "glib assertion failed" 🤪 but let's focus on one GUI toolkit at a time, shall we...? 😁) [14:12] . I also verified that the "elementary" theme is indeed not installed, by looking for it on the `LXQt Appearance Configuration`. … My question is: should this theme be installed by default? Should it not be? Why is Qt looking for it every time? Is this an LXQt issue, or a Qt one? Should I change something in my LXQt configuration to make it disappe [14:12] ar? … Thank you for taking the time to read this, regards! ✋ [14:16] @FedeBosio [Hi! I'm being using Lubuntu for a while now and recently noticed this warning in …], that happens because the default icontheme es e-papirus (because it works ok with dark and light backround) which fallback to elementary. [14:17] normal papirus and papirus dark only works well with either light or dark backgrounds, and we have a mix of bot in the default (dark panel, light windows) [14:26] Thank you for your quick answer! So, if I understand this well, it's a Qt thing... right? Qt it's not getting the icon theme settings well from LXQt. I suspect that because of [this article in the ArchWiki about Qt](https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Qt#Configuration_of_Qt5_apps_under_environments_other_than_KDE_Plasma) … Anyway, [14:26] thank you again for your explanation. I may look for more support related to this in the Qt webpage. Thanks! [14:33] @FedeBosio [Thank you for your quick answer! So, if I understand this well, it's a Qt thing. …], I don't think is a Qt issue, I haven't investigated much on the issue but icons themes have fallback themes, in case they don't have a specific icon they fallback to it. And here it says, "I won't be able to fallback to elementary ic [14:33] on theme becasue it doesn't exist" here you can fin more info https://specifications.freedesktop.org/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec-latest.html [14:36] Nice === lubuntu is now known as Guest62574 [18:56] Hello, i've been running Lubuntu 20.04 in the field for a few months. Today I learned the device was changing the display to a blank desktop (second display screen shows the background with no toolbar), so they would reboot to fix, and lately it's been getting worse and worse. Today I was looking at it and from the desktop if I rightclick > System > Desktop Settings, I get "Failed to [18:56] execute child process "lxsession-default" (No such file or directory)" [18:57] Even selecting File Manager, i get same error "lxsession-default" (No such file or directory) [18:57] I'm not sure if it's a hardware failure, but it boots into Lubuntu without issue [18:58] your problem description isn't really clear to me. the other problem, i think, is because you have turned of pcmanfm-qt's desktop handling, and so context menus come from openbox, which is kind of hardwired around lxde by default (that's where lxsession comes from) [19:00] So, all I can see is the desktop with no toolbars or icons. I can't get to the primary screen. Yes I enabled openbox to see if I can get to some file manager of some sorts [19:01] Do you happen to know the bash command to open settings? [19:01] no icons means pcmanfm-qt's desktop handling is off [19:01] so turn that back on and you'll get the icons [19:02] no toolbars either means the panel has been deleted or.... coupled with the other thing, perhaps it's being booted into the openbox session. log out and make sure the session selected is the lubuntu one, not the openbox one or lxqt one [19:02] wxl, no. The device has HDMI output which is emulated as the secondary screen, but the OS detects the primary screen as HDMI-0, so it needs to be disabled, but I can't get to any settings. It's how they made the device [19:03] no worries, I thought it was a bug. [19:05] 'lxqt-config' launched the window to get to Monitor Settings. Thanks [19:07] yep beat me to the punch [19:13] Thanks. I disabled primary monitor DS1 like it was set to. Not sure why it keeps enabling [19:13] rjCousineau: that's probably something you could twiddle with `xrandr` [19:15] Says DSI-1 is connected, which is the hardware. But i'm trying to keep it disabled. [19:17] like i said, `xrandr`. [19:19] `xrandr --output DSI1 -off` to be specific but there may be more you need to do. here's a similar issue. https://superuser.com/questions/618127/disable-unplugged-displays-xrandr [19:20] wow thank you, cheers [19:36] Hi, when I disable the monitor and hit apply, it's correct. I also hit Save. When I reboot. it's back to being enabled. It never used to do this, but now I can't make it persist. I'm not sure if this is a possible bug? Otherwise, i'm going to reinstall Lubuntu. [19:42] rjCousineau: that's weird. i don't usually use multiple monitors so i'm going to be of minimal help. i would expect the settings to be saved and reloaded upon reboot. i see no upstream issues suggesting there is a problem here. it may be something with hardware detection that's causing the problem. i'd make a script with `xrandr` and have it run as an autostart option [19:56] rjCousineau lxqt-config-monitor is teh for monitor handling in lxqt [20:28] lubot: ty [20:40] Stephanie Kelley was added by: Stephanie Kelley
