guiverc@devikri, you should provide release details. There maybe complications, but yes you can.   (my box has gdm3, lightdm & sddm installed)05:11
lubot<devikri> @guiverc [<guiverc> @devikri, you should provide release details. There maybe complication …], Im using lubuntu 20.04, its awesome but unfortunately sddm cant show current connection05:13

lubot<Michaël Van Bogaert> But replace with your display manager08:50

lubot<matkoniecz> I have a Dell Latitude 7480 laptop with preinstalled Windows 10. … I installed Lubuntu 20.04 on it, with dual booting. … Things worked fine until I tried attaching an external monitor (that worked perfectly fine with my ancient Lenovo laptop). … I discovered that with attached screen latop starts bootlooping. GRUB menu appears as u12:56
lubotsual and starts countdown from 10. … After 2 seconds (when it reaches 8) laptop screen flashes black screen, GRUB appears again but …     it stops reacting to a keyboard input …     continues flashing black screen every few seconds …     countdown freezes …     neither Linux nor Windows boots … There is no error message at all - so I have no good t12:56

lubot<matkoniecz> As workaround I can remove HDMI cable, select OS in GRUB menu and reattach it (attaching too early freezes boot, but attaching it too late causes Windows to not detect monitor at all). … I am primarily looking for info what is the proper method of diagnosing GRUB issues, how GRUB can be updated safely and how can I get rid of this12:57
lubotproblem.12:57
lubot<HMollerCl> @matkoniecz [As workaround I can remove HDMI cable, select OS in GRUB menu and reattach it (a …], I've never heard from a problem like this before. since it is not Lubunt specific I would aks in broader groups (ask ubuntu is good but maybe on they're irc/telegrema channels). I also would check if it's not a cable problem, ex: a13:31
lubotshorted cable in pins that don't affect image. only disconnect monitor from cable but leave cable attached to laptop, try another cable.13:31
lubot<matkoniecz> I tried another cable. I admit that I never booted while monito was attached before I installed Lubuntu, maybe I have a broken laptop at hardware level.14:23
lubot<matkoniecz> I will try with just HDMI plugged in, not attached to the monitor14:23
lubot<matkoniecz> I tried, it works fine in such case14:34
lubot<HMollerCl> @matkoniecz [I tried, it works fine in such case], so it is the monitor, not your laptop or cable.15:09
lubot<HMollerCl> another test if try another monitor, if you can15:11

lubot<FedeBosio> (Photo, 1024x600) https://i.imgur.com/MiHMgqe.jpg Fortunately (for me), it doesn't happen on LibreOffice 6.3.5.2 with Lubuntu 19.10, so it seems to be an issue of the newest version only (which I can't reproduce anyway, because I don't have that version).21:00
lubot<HMollerCl> it is also solved in LO 7 which will be in 20.10.-21:06
lubot<FedeBosio> Good to know!21:07
