[03:14] uname -a [03:14] oops [04:05] Is there a trick to having spotify exit to deskbar like it does on windows? i keep closing it πŸ˜– [04:14] brogan: It's somewhere in the preferences for spotify (this is not an Ubuntu Studio-related question) [04:20] ah yeah all good, sorry about that. prefs aren't the same on Linux i see. [04:21] All good. On my way to bed, saw the question, knew the answer was somewhere in the prefs, but did need to let you know that the question was somewhat off-topic. [07:46] all opinions are valid! i'm strugling to define or accept other peoples definitoon of "substandard" when it comes to sound. All of ray charles recording on 8 track taperecorder can be considered substandard today. do they sound bad? [07:53] but i agree: reference is key to whatever "correct sound" means. basically the most subjective topic ever by definition. unless we talk about said sound being distorted/broken when played back on a different system then where it was mixed. which i've never experienced with calf. in fact i love them very much because they are the closest thing i've found to my beginings on cubaseSX [08:01] then again, i belong to those who consider debates arround for example "loudness war" to be the sound equivalent of a fashion-magazines debating baggy-pants. it's fun and engaging, but very few of those who adhere to baggy pants and those who like skinny jeans aren't going to change their style becaude of the debate. [14:51] sakrecoer[m]: a plugin should not "zipper" when automated, The values on the knobs should related to the amount of actual adjustment. Calf fails both of these amung others. There is nothing wrong with using "bad" plugins as an effect or to create certain sounds as Unfa does (crank them up until they distort). As a general eq, as a transpartent compressor or limiter, better to use something else. [15:01] sakrecoer[m]: oh, and I forgot to mention, a plugin should not crash it's host. [15:19] got my blank dvd in the drive! [15:20] πŸ˜€ [15:22] usb stick is the way to go :P [15:23] unless you can't boot from usb of course [15:23] oh yeah i should try that this time [16:29] valid points OvenWerks ! thanks for elaborating! none of them have applied to me, but that's just me. and i've never animated a compressor or a a reverb. (i should maybe try) but i have animated tje mono-synth and it does not seem have that problem on my machine [16:30] * sakrecoer[m] uploaded an image: 6a0120a85dcdae970b0128776ff992970c-pi.png (10KiB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/uKwWwAEdZlEXcjnTILLBTDpE/6a0120a85dcdae970b0128776ff992970c-pi.png > [16:30] i can give calf this certification πŸ˜… [16:37] sakrecoer[m]: Calf next.0 shouldat least take care of the crashing the host problem. The GUI is getting a total renewal. [16:39] sakrecoer[m]: someof the people who have been involved with Calf in the past have given up trying to fix it and started making their own plugins. [16:39] i see! thanks for the heads up OvenWerks i haven't checked in on the project in a while! [16:46] Very interesting! [17:52] didn't know that o.O === Eickmeyer changed the topic of #ubuntustudio to: Ubuntu Studio Support | Mostly active 1500-0300 UTC | Offtopic in #ubuntustudio-offtopic | Supported Releases: 20.04 LTS, 20.10 | Pastes to https://paste.ubuntu.com | Please be patient and see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuStudio if no one is around. [20:19] hi im fairly new to ubuntu studio and to linux.i have installed studio for music production. but im kinda overwhelmed by the things it has. as i saw it has many effects/instruments/qjack connector and so on [20:19] zezalos: Do you have a specific question? [20:19] so if i just want to work with all this things in lets say ardour or lmms how can i add all those to my daw? [20:20] zezalos: We can't do tutorials or walk you through how to do things in here. That would take too much precious volunteer time. [20:20] zezalos: I recommend getting into a community and disucssing things there. This room is for troubleshooting issues. [20:21] zezalos: We have a general discussion room at #ubuntustudio-offtopic, and there are other discussion rooms at #opensourcemusicians and #lau (Linux Audio Users). [20:21] oh ok. thanks [20:22] zezalos: There's also tons of articles on the web if you look for them. Try to find some recent articles, they exist. [20:23] Ok :) === WrathOfAchilles is now known as IchabodCrane === Unit193 is now known as Montresor [23:49] i've been using Carla for a while, and i love it. but now it's gone windowframeless, and during a monitor snafu, it's now stuck, frameless, maximized, on an inconvenient display. how do i get the frame back, or move when monitor it comandeers?
