[00:28] ARGH. Has anyone else plowed headalong into what appears to be a fairly wellknown unfixed bug in the USB XHCI code? [10:32] Hello everyone. [10:33] I'm experiencing crashes with ubuntu studio 20.04 (also tried 20.10 and it was worse) [10:33] Anyone has an idea? [18:07] I am having the same problem. See also !upgrades and !security; you may also need to run `apt full-upgrade`. [18:47] Ok...... i will be back in a bit with all that you asked for [18:50] me, too, got to have some food [18:50] Enjoy [20:52] i ran journalctl -b | nc termbin.com 9999 after doing the updates and upgrades and switching to the latest nvidia driver 455 [20:53] Still having problems [20:53] * aladiof[m] sent a long message: < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/YBIMBLNqBPIxQYYuVJDuWpLS/message.txt > [20:54] oh and I changed my hostname in case you are wondering [21:23] aladiof[m]: hi, thanks for posting, and sorry about my late response. but this is not any more than we had last time, and not the output of journalctl -b | nc termbin.com 9999 [22:05] oops https://termbin.com/bcj0b [22:07] That thing is a giant haystack! Good luck finding the needle... [22:25] aladiof[m]: did you add the "threadirqs" kernel option? because this should not be needed when you're already on a kernel with lowlatency patches [22:26] your bios version is old, you may want to look for a current one: Dell Inc. XPS 8700/0KWVT8, BIOS A11 07/09/2015 [22:26] tomreyn: That's not true. CONFIG_IRQ_THREADED does not do the same as threadirqs. [22:27] The threadirqs is added by the ubuntustudio-lowlatency-settings package. [22:28] Eickmeyer[m]: okay. it's what i read while strolling through notes i found online just now, thanks for clarifying [22:30] autojack is the first application crashing, from what i can see [22:32] this seems to lack some apparmor rules [22:33] but i guess the real issue is just a bad build or bug of autojack [22:33] aladiof[m]: ^ [22:34] Actually, if one has the latest version of studio-controls and deletes the configuration in .config/autojack, then it should reset it to normal. This has been the number one fix for most people with this issue. aladiof , tomreyn [22:35] tomreyn: RE: threadirqs, this was part of a discussion I had recently: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/NXf4NftTNG/ [22:36] hmm, what a poor name [22:37] Those were sent to me from someone else, not my words. [22:55] I deleted /home/sparky/.config/autojack/studio-controls.lock and tried to restart studio controls but it still chrashed [22:55] i will look into up grading my bio [23:00] apt remove autojack? [23:05] be back after I upgrade my bios [23:11] [aladiof](https://matrix.to/#/@aladiof:matrix.org): Make sure you also set the device you are using as master and not relying on the default. Your system might not have "default". Also, autojack is part of studio-controls package and is what makes the system work (Studio Controls is the front-end for autojack). [23:36] I can run QjackCtl maybe that will be all i will need [23:37] I did upgrade the bios. Thank you for that tip! [23:47] I would like to get this working... but it is time to let this go till tomorrow [23:47] Have a nice evening and thanks so much for the help!
