[21:43] !audio | jilocasin [21:43] jilocasin: If you're having problems with sound see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Sound - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting - For playing audio files, see !Players and !MP3 [21:44] that's partially outdated, but still helps for the most part [21:46] tomreyn: thanks I'll take a look. It's an Intel ALC3861 that was working fine under 20.04. Looking in /proc/ascound/cards it's now incorrectly listed as being an *HDMI* caased card? [21:47] jilocasin- I saw someone else mention that they had audio issues, and that booting into a previous kernel fixed it [22:01] I saw too. In my case rebooting worked. I haven't chased the root cause yet. [22:06] I had to fire up pavucontrol to actually enable the sound [22:07] works now in all kernels [22:12] 'ello again [22:12] just rebooted to make sure the fix *stuck* [22:14] added 'options snd-hda-intel model=auto' to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf [22:14] just in case it might help someone else who is having the same problems. [22:15] Thanks for the help everyone. [22:16] @Mamarok, Yes, that's my goto resolution normally. But in this case my sound device is normally duplex, and now it was detected as input only. So pav did not help. I think the problem is non-kde.
