IrcsomeBot<zparihar> Another Question for Kubuntu 20.04.1:  I've paired my Bluetooth Headphones and I've had them output audio before, but in the last few days, no audio has been coming out of it when I've reconnected my computer to it.  I'm looking for where I can select the output device to change it to my Bluetooth Headset.  Anybody know where that is?03:09

IrcsomeBot<prabhushakti> Why Firefox is crashing?03:22
IrcsomeBot<prabhushakti> Drivers are not loading automatically my WiFi, audio drivers don't load03:23
keithzg@zparihar the primary place for selecting audio devices is in System Settings > Audio. If that doesn't work, you might want to try "pavucontrol" (that's both the program name, and the package name) which exposes some of the fiddlier controls for PulseAudio.03:29
IrcsomeBot<zparihar> Yes, that's where I've checked, and I've used pavucontrol to find it as well because of how powerful it is.  But still don't see the devices in either, yet the headset is in a "connected" state03:31
IrcsomeBot<zparihar> I'm wondering if there is a service that needs to be restarted...btw, I haven't rebooted the machine in a while, but I'm going to guess when I reboot it, it will appear...03:31
keithzg@zparihar: Hmm, maybe. My guess would be that for some reason your headphones aren't detecting as an audio device when they're connected. But where along the chain that's happening, hard to know offhand.03:34
keithzgI know with my phone I often have to restart it before bluetooth devices will start connecting again . . . bluetooth really is a fickle beast!03:34
keithzgYou could probably run `sudo journalctl -f` to see if any errors are logged when you connect the headphones; presumably there's a specific service you could specify to cut down on the chatter, but if so none of the systems in front of me right now obviously have it (was hoping it'd be as simple as `journalctl -u bluez -f` or such)03:37
IrcsomeBot<zparihar> @keithzg, I'll investigate...03:44
IrcsomeBot<zparihar> (Photo, 2560x1600) https://irc-attachments.kde.org/MGr5DUIr/file_38723.jpg03:45
IrcsomeBot<zparihar> Here is a screenshot of what I see (for bluetooth connections)03:45
IrcsomeBot<zparihar> I see a difference in the devices... the Bose Bluetooth speakers connect no problem, and its got a Device Icon... but the Headset has a Headset Icon, but no audio or audio device listed when connected03:47

skramerHi everyone. Could it be there is no official upgrade path from18.04 to 20.04 yet? I'm still on 18.04 and did not get an offer to upgrade yet...12:36
RikMillsskramer: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FocalUpgrades/Kubuntu12:57
skramerRikMills Thanks Rik, for the link. I will check it now. Thought the upgrade would be automatically offered.13:00
RikMillsskramer: not currently. that was done by part of plasma-discover, which KDE decided to remove a few years back13:06
skramerRikMills: I see, just studying the link you gave me. Thank you again!13:14

mocalvaoHi there15:44
logofierit shows dev/sda4 extended15:44

fahad-Mcan you then please show me? so i can see properly which one is missing and where the problem is15:48
mocalvaoI used to have a seamless Kubuntu branch on my desktop machine. Then, after a regular apt update, carried out on 2020-11-09, the sound stopped working everywhere: internet videos and local ones as well. As far as I could check this last upgrade did not bring anything explicitly related to sound, apart perhaps from linux-firmware 1.187.415:48
logofierhow to show?15:49
fahad-Mjust take a pic15:49
fahad-Mfrom phone camera maybe?15:49
logofieri cant i am using the trial version from the usb15:49

logofiercan i contact u again after an hours i am in a hurry right now15:51
mocalvaoI checked alsamixer, pavucontrol and System Settings -> Audio and I have two playback devices: Line Out (Builtin Audion Analog Stereo), which is default, and HDMI/DisplayPort 2 (HDA NVidia Digital Stereo (HDMI 2). Everything seems ok. Any suggestions to recover sound?15:51
logofierbye..15:52
fahad-Mok see you, text me personally, or maybe check few guides over internet.15:52
fahad-Msee you15:52
BluesKajmocalvao, make sure automute is disabled in alsamixer15:52
mocalvaoBluesKaj: sure it did work now; sorry for the silly question. Why should this have been changed? I did not change it myself...15:55
BluesKajmocalvao, usually after a firmware or kernel upgrade the automute is enabled by default15:56
mocalvaoOk. I will watch out for that from now on15:56
BluesKajright15:56
mocalvaoAnother question: I used to have some time ago a working Bluetooth speaker paired with this very desktop. Then it stopped working (after some upgrade?) and I only could get sound back again installing a wired speakers, which are the ones I have now. Would you have any suggestions related to this?15:58
mocalvaoThe Bluetooth speaker was an Anker one with very nice sound :-(16:00
BluesKajcheck your BT configuration to pair with the BT speaker16:05
fahad-Mhonestly, my bluetooth doesn't work at all, shows no adapters found, it shows it's enabled in bios but idk the shit with OS, both windows and ubuntu don't give me bluetooth option, maybe hardware issue, maybe now😋16:05
mocalvaoIn Bluetooth, under System Settings no adapters are found, like fatha-M mentioned16:06
fahad-Mhey anyone has idea about my issue? didn;t find anything on google16:07
KurozenHmm16:07
KurozenHey guys, so underscore is not allowed URL character?16:08
KurozenI have systemd-resolved reporting invalid hosts, saying they're ignored16:08
DragnslcrKurozen- do you mean in domain names?16:22
KurozenDragnslcr: In Journalctl, systemd-resolved[573]: /etc/hosts:306: hostname "onyx_tiles.stage.mozaws.net" is not valid, ignoring.16:24
KurozenThis is what Wireshark gave me so dunno, perhaps underscore is some replacement for some other char or a miscopy16:25
KurozenEverything with underscore has this "not valid" error is the pattern I'm seeing.16:25
DragnslcrThat's correct. Underscores are not allowed in domain names. The only valid characters are letters, digits, and hyphen.16:27

Guest_89Good day, does anyone know how to fix the Ubuntu freeze issue? I'm having trouble finding the cause and searches are inconclusive.19:35
=== eugene_ is now known as shooroop
diogenes_Guest_89, check RAM/swap usage.19:39
Guest_89diogenes_ Info:      Processes: 336 Uptime: 1h 38m Memory: 31.36 GiB used: 3.69 GiB (11.8%) Shell: bash inxi: 3.0.38; swap is 975 MB and empty19:42
diogenes_Guest_89, i mean when the freezes occur.19:43
Guest_89Chromium was the only program running, couldn't have been more than now. I just can't tell what's causing it. The logs seem to be ok.19:44
diogenes_does it freezes completely or you can still move stuff but slower also how fast does it get back to normal?19:49
Guest_89I've added a swapfile with asize of 8 GiB, maybe that'll help19:50
Guest_89When it freezes I cannot do anything. Sometimes the magic keys work (20% of the cases). It affects mostly "light" programs like Firefox and Chromium (under light load). I've had this issue on both Intel and AMD systems.19:52
Guest_89-affects +freeze triggered when working with; Sometimes the issue occurs when the machine is idle, with little or almost no load.19:53
diogenes_try then to change the compositor backend from openGL to xrender.20:01
Guest_89Should I change the compositor right away, or after the next freeze?20:02
fuddlydudly123Hey - whos in here?20:07
IrcsomeBot<darltrash> 920:09
diogenes_Guest_89, change as soon as possible.20:12
Guest_89diogenes_ done. Thanks for the support.20:13
diogenes_no problem, for a cleaner test i'd recommend a log out.20:14
Guest_89ok, I'll log out of the session and back on, brb20:15
