Emmanuel_Chanel | When will proftpd-mod-vroot work? | 01:51 |

lordievader | Good morning | 08:25 |
mybalzitch | hello | 08:32 |
locsmif_work | What would be the best choice for a web-based administration tool that can also manage (dist-)upgrades? Any web-based tool which can handle dist-upgrade would also be interesting to explore. | 10:03 |
lotuspsychje | locsmif_work: cockpit is a nice tool to administrate, but didnt test myself on the dist-upgrade part | 10:04 |
locsmif_work | lotuspsychje: I suppose that's the first choice option then, my co-worker already mentioned it :) | 10:06 |
ducasse | locsmif_work: there's also landscape, by canonical | 10:13 |
locsmif_work | ducasse: thanks | 10:26 |
mgedmin | locsmif_work: cockpit can give you a console in the browser, and in a console you can do sudo do-release-upgrade | 10:31 |
mgedmin | locsmif_work: if you want a nice native web release upgrade tool, then I don't think such a thing exists? (unless landscape can do something I don't know about -- never used it) | 10:32 |

Bor691 | Hello, I'm trying to use ubuntu server autoinstall (using a cloud-config file on extra iso). I need an xfs filesystem, But can't find examples on how to modify the storage key to just change the fs type as opposed to explicitly defining everything from the partition table mode to sizes and mountpoints. Can I leave everything as default and just change that? Any links to examples using xfs? Thanks | 12:30 |
teward | Bor691: If you need something that custom/granular I think you're going to have to define your partition layouts and everything that way. Unfortunately from what i've found even the simplest change requires a full configuration layout made for your autostart | 15:07 |
teward | and its autoinstall config. | 15:07 |
Bor691 | teward: Thanks | 15:45 |

Emmanuel_Chanel | proftpd-mod-vroot doesn't work on my Ubuntu Server 20.04 LTS. How can we help that? | 18:03 |
tomreyn | Emmanuel_Chanel: you could file a bug report, if there isn't one, yet | 18:17 |
tomreyn | https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/proftpd-mod-vroot/+bugs | 18:18 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/proftpd-mod-vroot/+bug/1880683 | 18:18 |
ubottu | Launchpad bug 1880683 in proftpd-mod-vroot (Ubuntu) "unable to load mod_vroot.c" [Undecided,Confirmed] | 18:18 |
tomreyn | this package is in universe: https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/proftpd-mod-vroot | 18:19 |
tomreyn | support level of universe is: community support (i.e. you fix it, or some other volunteer), often a better option is to review bug reports files upstream. upstream is often debian. | 18:20 |
tomreyn | *fileD | 18:21 |
RoyK | oh - people still use ftp? | 18:23 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | Looks that Debian community doesn't feel like fixing that problem... | 18:23 |

Emmanuel_Chanel | RoyK: I use it. I like ProFTPd and proftpd-mod-vroot . But looks that it's hard to build them by my own. | 18:24 |
RoyK | why would you use FTP? | 18:24 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | To share big files with my friends. | 18:29 |
sdeziel | Emmanuel_Chanel: considering that browser are dropping (or have already dropped) support for FTP, your friends will likely need a dedicated client in which case you might want to switch away from FTP to maybe SFTP? | 18:35 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | Well, it has a HTTP mirror anyway. But I want to keep my usage of FTP. | 18:38 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | And SFTP is slow, as far as my experience shows. | 18:38 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | Actually, to use FTP for sharing my big files is my wish. I don't actually have a big audience. | 18:40 |
RoyK | I prefer kermit for file transfer, but people doesn't want to listen to me!!! | 18:41 |
sdeziel | yeah, SFTP isn't a performance beast unfortunately | 18:46 |
sdeziel | Emmanuel_Chanel: you might have a better luck with vsftpd (which is in main) | 18:46 |
Emmanuel_Chanel | Well, maybe. I didn't like vsftpd, though. | 18:48 |

mgedmin | magic-wormhole is almost nice, shame about the (lack of) packaging | 19:50 |
mgedmin | (I mean there's an ubuntu package, but it's more difficult on other OSes) | 19:50 |
Fin3 | hello there | 20:19 |
Fin3 | i'm struggling with no network connectivity with latest updates... is there anyone who can try to help me figure out what's going on? | 20:19 |
Fin3 | i really don't know where to look, NIC are connected and ok, but no connectivity at all... i've just done latest updates a few hour ago | 20:20 |
cengique | hello! | 22:03 |
sarnold | cengique: any luck with your issue? | 22:10 |
cengique | Not yet I think we are going to try another solution tho | 22:39 |
sarnold | aww | 22:40 |
cengique | yep | 22:44 |
TJ- | Has anyone experimented with IPv6 and proxy_ndp recently? On 20.04 acting as a router to a routed libvirtd network, remote hosts do not get replues to their NS enquiries. tcpdump shows them arriving on the upstream interface but even with proxy_ndp=1 on that interface, and "ip -6 proxy add $IPv6 dev $UPSTREAM_IF" and confirmed with "ip -6 neigh show proxy" the host is not sending a reply to | 23:33 |
