[15:49] o/ [15:50] question: did somebody here experience crash with 5.4.0-54 on Intel® Xeon® Gold 5120 Processor ? [15:50] and the latest Intel microcode [15:56] niub: I've seen bugs about boot hanging while loading the microcode [15:57] sdeziel: was looking at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-microcode/+bug/1903883 [15:57] Launchpad bug 1903883 in intel-microcode (Ubuntu) "XPS 13 9310 Tiger Lake Unable to boot 20.10 after intel-microcode update 3.20201110.0ubuntu0.20.10.1" [Critical,Fix released] [15:57] the strace I got is different but nevertheless the system panics [15:57] works like a charm disabling the microcode [15:58] I tried booting 5.4.0-52 thinking was something related to microcode+kernel [15:58] it booted, reloaded the microcode [15:58] after 30 min it crashed by itself [15:58] Hey All, i'm going to be tasked with setting up a hpc cluster for my lab and i'm evaluating grid schedulers. A number of years ago I used to be pretty familiar with setting up SGE, but that seems to have fallen off of most lists I see when setting up HPCs nowadays. Someone recommended openlava but it looks like they recently lost a DMCA suit so I would worry about maintainability there. I'm just looking for something that supports CPU, GPU, or [15:58] MPI jobs to be specified. It looks like SGE does still fit the bill but i'm wondering if anyone has any other suggestions I might look into? [15:58] niub: I'd advise to do what is explained in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-microcode/+bug/1903883/comments/14 [15:58] Launchpad bug 1903883 in intel-microcode (Ubuntu) "XPS 13 9310 Tiger Lake Unable to boot 20.10 after intel-microcode update 3.20201110.0ubuntu0.20.10.1" [Critical,Fix released] [15:59] sdeziel ack, thx [15:59] np === ijohnson is now known as ijohnson|lunch === ijohnson|lunch is now known as ijohnson
