leogames2016Hello13:45
leogames2016I'm Using Xubuntu on Virtualbox 6.0 (The Latest Version Used),It works13:45
leogames2016correctly though gives me a Segmentation Error instead of a Installation13:45
leogames2016Screen13:45
leogames2016Its Xubuntu 18.0413:45
tomreynvirtualbox 6.1 is current upstream13:51
leogames2016...13:51
leogames2016Help me on this13:52
tomreynare you using virtualbox packages from (x)ubuntu? or those from virtualbox.org?13:52
leogames2016Thoses from XUBUNTU13:53
leogames2016The Oficial Website13:53
tomreyn(x)ubuntu 18.04 provides virtualbox 5.2.42, though, not 6.013:54
leogames2016Why?13:54
tomreynprobably because that was the currently packaged release back when 18.04 published.13:54
tomreynmy point is that you are obviously not using the packages from ubuntu 18.0413:55
tomreynhttps://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=bionic-updates&keywords=virtualbox&exact=on13:55
tomreynthis is where you can get 6.1 https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads13:56
tomreyn(Upstream, so virtualbox.org packaged) "Version 6.0 will remain supported until July 2020."13:58

hanshon Xubuntu 20.04, ,the "File Operation Progress" window's minimize button does *NOTHING*16:05
hanshhow do i make this button work? https://i.imgur.com/5GNbATF.png16:06
hansh(and it's deleting a large number of files over sshfs, so it will stick around a while16:06
hansh)16:06
hansh(sshfs is rather slow)16:06
diogenes_hansh, afaik you need to minimize the main thunar window.16:07
hanshthat sounds stupid, is that intended or a bug?16:07
hanshah yes, minimizing the main thunar window worked. but i don't want to minimize that window, i need the main window16:08
diogenes_kinda bug but maybe the design.16:08
hanshin Microsoft Windows, when deleting files, you can minimize the delete progress window without minimizing the folder window; i wish Xubuntu allowed you to do the same.16:09
diogenes_it's not Xubuntu's responsibility.16:10
hanshwhat do you mean?16:11
hanshdo you mean "it's an XFCE thing, not an Xubuntu thing" ?16:11
diogenes_correct.16:11

hanshthe guys over at #xfce thinks it's a bug in XFCE16:24
diogenes_that's obvious.16:24
hanshoh, it's already a known issue, https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfwm4/-/issues/34916:25
mooeshi all. just installed xubuntu 20.04 on a yoga x1 gen5. so far so good. first time trying xfce and liking it. one issue: resume from suspend usually does not work when closing and reopening the lid. it worked once (lock screen shown, could log back in, and everything works), but usually when I reopen the lid it goes straight to the desktop (no lock screen) but then I cannot do anything. The system is not17:01
mooesfrozen, but I suspect it is still sort of locked. When I send the system into suspend with systemctl suspend, then close the lid, reopen, it seems to work properly every time.17:01
mooesI know suspend/resume has been an ongoing issue on x1's (yoga/carbon), but as far as I can tell, it is actually working properly, but something seems off with the lid closing action.17:02
mooesjust wondering if somebody here happens to be running xubuntu on an x1 carbon/yoga and has any suggestions for how to fix this17:24
brainwashmooes: maybe using another screen locker could fix the problem17:27
brainwashmooes: easiest way would probably be to install xscreensaver and uninstall xfce4-screensaver (disabling its autostart entry may be not enough)17:34
brainwashthen relog and test again17:34
mooesok, will give this a try17:36
mooeshmm, when I went to the settings for the screensaver, it again gave that message "Xfce Power Manager is not configured to handle laptop lid events Your computer may not be locked when you close the lid." I clicked on "Resolve" and maybe that fixed it? Tried suspend with lid closing twice now and both times it worked.17:46
mooesI had seen that message and clicked on Resolve before - not sure why it came back. But maybe that fixed it now?17:46
brainwashno clue17:46
brainwashhopefully it stays fixed17:47
mooesseems to work now ... amazing. how far we have come: just push the Resolve button and the problem disappears :)18:00
mooesit is possible to assign two different keyboars shortcuts to the same action? this (https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=11038) does not seem to work anymore18:15
mooes(specifically: wm actions; for application shortcuts, this is not an issue)18:25

NotADogjatt, this snapd thing is taking a chunk of time20:12
tomreynthat's not super recent, may explain the slowness. but an ssd would be a lot more helpful, i assume.20:26

NotADogit uses an ide interface though, actualy i have no idea what connector it uses. idk if there is a generally large ssd for what connector i have.20:28
tomreynoh, maybe it's about time for a general replacement then.20:29
NotADogif i give you the laptop modual can you tell me?20:29
NotADog*model20:29
tomreynwhether it's about time to replace it? i can already tell you that based on the cpu20:30
NotADogits actualy realy good, even being in 2007, it has an nvidia chipset.20:31
NotADogalso i am definetly vot intensively gaming or anything like that20:32
tomreynif removing snaps / snapd doesn't seem to help, post a system log if you like ( journalctl -b | nc termbin.com 9999 ), maybe there's more that's slowing it down.20:35
NotADogi uninstalled snapd ill see if its reduced now.20:36
