[00:01] xu-irc65w: this channel supports software that's packaged for ubuntu, as either .deb packages (available via apt), or snaps. you're trying to set up a software which is not packaged, which basically means you're on your own (maybe its developers can provide support). === brainwash_ is now known as brainwash === psych095 is now known as psych094 === psych094 is now known as psych094[m] === psych094[m] is now known as psych094 === brainwash_ is now known as brainwash === Guest38144 is now known as az [15:54] Hi everyone. quick question. I bought a new WD external drive. but the eject icon does not show. It does for my other external drives. why? [15:55] googling this out turned to be harder than expected. problem is that eject does nto work for that specıfıc drive. new format to ext4 and no flagsö same as the othersç, [15:57] Any clue to put me into the right direction please? [15:59] goksu: I would check if there is any difference (mount point, device stats,...) [16:00] you can use the CLI command "mount" and there is the application "gnome-disks" also [16:00] I did. but nothing seems to be different. I am flabbergasted. [16:01] then you should test with a different file manager [16:01] Caja or Nemo [16:01] ah have not tried mount from the CLI. I do not have gnome. will try that. thanks. Any obvıous reason why this would happen? [16:01] gnome-disks is a standalone tool [16:01] ok thanks for the clues. Ill work on these. [16:02] it could be a bug somewhere [16:02] maybe it is Xfce specific [16:02] that is why I suggested to test with Caja or Nemo [16:02] or any other file manager [16:22] ok so gnome-disk-util does not show anything weird. Nemo and nautilus show the eject button. thunar still does not show the button for one drive. so it is a minor bug. [16:23] I had thought the drive had something wrog. seems not to be the case. thanks for all the suggestions. [16:28] oh found it. the reason why the eject did not show but the unmount did for the drive is because the drive was owned by root. [16:28] taking ownership solved the problem. [19:24] xubuntu is really the best minimalistic linux distro ever.... and not to mention it runs smooth as cutting butter with warm knife... [19:52] Hello, I'm trying to install Xubuntu 20.04 alongside Windows 10. The Xubuntu installer doesn't recognize my 1TB HDD in my PC, but it only shows the flash drive that I'm using to install Xubuntu with. [19:52] The last time I installed Xubuntu, it displayed the 1TB drive as an option. === pikapika is now known as gorillatypist
