bittin_Hello, anyone have DKMS modules for zfs for the 5.10 kernels ?15:43
bittinalso my computer crashed so missed if anyone wrote something15:48
bittinaccording to the #zfsonlinux people the kernel modules for ZFS needs to updated so are stuck on a 5.9 kernel for now15:53
tjaaltonbittin: the version from hirsute should work16:47
tjaaltonat least builds16:48
bittintjaalton: wwierd it does not boot with this kernel: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.10.2/ for me but this works: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.9.15/17:12
bittinwierd*17:12
bittinwell i can live being on the 5.9 branch gonna test 5.9.16 now17:15
bittini get kicked out to initramfs on the 5.10 kernels17:16
bittinand now it said something about the ZFS modules17:16
tjaalton"something"17:16
bittinthat they are unloaded17:17
tjaaltonand you have hirsute?17:23
bittinyeah update to 5.9.16 works but if i try to update to 5.10 kernel series the ZFS modules is unloaded 17:25
bittintjaalton17:25
tjaaltoncheck that they are built17:26
bittini removed those deb packages but how can i do that the easiest way, check the output ?17:27
tjaaltonremoved what?17:28
tjaaltonyou need to have zfs-dkms installed17:28
bittinthese on my system: https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v5.10.2/ 17:29
bittinbut reinstalling them now17:29
bittintjaalton: https://pastebin.com/BMknDaXh17:30
bittinthink i spotted the error17:30
tjaaltonfocal has linux-oem-5.10 with zfs built-in17:31
bittinzfs-dkms is already the newest version (0.8.4-1ubuntu16).17:31
tjaaltonyou'd need to modify dkms.conf for it17:31
tjaalton/usr/src/zfs-0.8.4/dkms.conf17:32
bittinhttps://pastebin.com/BQRi4EHB17:34
bittinno idea what too touch but if its easier / better i can stay on a 5.9 kernel17:35
tjaaltondo you have the headers installed?17:39
bittinyep17:40
bittinbut it says the ZFS modules can't be built17:46
=== fling_ is now known as fling
tjaaltondkms.conf can say which versions are supported, but can't see it set here17:47
bittinwierd does not say anything about that here17:48
bittinbut as i am getting a ERROR (dkms apport): kernel package linux-headers-5.10.2-051002-generic is not supported error and throwed into initramfs when trying to boot i think i will run the 5.9.16 kernel 17:49
=== antoine5 is now known as antoine
bittinanyways17:57
Moonspellis anyone familiar with for_each_process(task) ? I'm trying to do my own syscall, but I'm lost (first time doing this)22:39
JanCMoonspell: maybe https://kernelnewbies.org/ is a better place to get such help?22:57
MoonspellJanC, probably, yes, I'm reading a lot of documentation, though, I just need someone who already done it... it's not that easy to do this when most of the information is for versions 2.* and 3.* of the kernel22:58
Moonspellbtw, most kernelnewbies link references, give me a 500/503 error, thx anyway :D23:04
