ograxnox, waveform, i notice that my UC20 pi images do ship a "psplash.img" file in their boot partition but i guess that is not integrated with the shipped initrd and uboot scripts in UC20 at all anymore, why do we still ship/build the img file ? (or is there any integration work planned before UC20 final release)15:40
ogra(i definitely only ee a black screen on boot here on pi3 and 4 devices)15:41

ijohnsonogra: probably leftover from the before times16:16
ijohnsonI don't think it's on anyone's todo for uc20 1.0 release16:16
ijohnsonbut would certainly be nice to have16:17
ograijohnson, well, considering it is still some effort to update gadget payload stuff it would at least be nice to not ship/build it by default if we do not use it ... having an unused psplash.img file in the boot partition feels a bit dirty (i dont really care if we have a splash or not, just about that file)16:20
ijohnsonogra: sure you could probably file a pr to pi-gadget 20-* branches and just delete the file from going into the snap, it seems a harmless pr to delete that file for now until it's used16:21
mvopedronis: I updated 977616:22
ograwell, if there is an "until" it is probably aslo fine to keep it 🙂 ... thats why i pinged the guys that would likely implement it16:22
pedronismvo: thx, I'll look in a bit16:23

xnoxogra: i don't believe psplash.img is used at all anymore on classic, or core, on focal+17:01
ograxnox, yeah, it was core specific (never was in classic) and relied on merging the initrd with it in ram ... i doubt it could even work with the new initrd design17:05
