MrElmoEvery time I boot into Xubuntu, I get an error message saying "System program problem detected". Any input regarding this is appreciated. Thanks.01:29
Bashing-omMrElmo: Might take a look and see if/what /var/crash file contains - unimportant might think about deleteing the file and see if the system still prompts with an error.01:32
MrElmoHey, thanks01:33
Bashing-omMrElmo: :D But not out of the woods - yet.01:34
MrElmooh ok cool01:35

L3monzest0um hi i was wondering,,does anyone know how to uninstall JDK11.0.9.1 on xubuntu?? i've been trying for almost half an hour (i need to go to JDK8) but nothing i've done will work at all i either get  "command not found" or "the file or directory doesn't exist" or "unable to open" does anyone know what to do??17:37
coconutL3monzest0, how did you install it?17:39
L3monzest0the issue is i'm not sure because i don't think i did i think it came with xubuntu?? unless it didn't but is there anyway to check how it was installed?17:40
coconutL3monzest0, you can check that with apt policy <packagename>, which you have to search for with apt search openjdk*.17:44
coconutyou can then check whether it has been installed with ubuntu package manager.17:44
coconutand if so, you can remove with sudo apt remove <packagename>.17:46
L3monzest0aah okay i'll check that,,17:47
L3monzest0it gave me a really long list which shows alot of different versions of java?17:50
L3monzest0(when i did apt search openjdk17:51
coconutit's probably openjdk-8-jdk which you have installed, check it with apt policy openjdk-8-jdk17:54
gnrpL3monzest0: You can check what packages are installed with `dpkg -l | grep openjdk`17:54
L3monzest0ooh17:55
L3monzest0from that one it says ii openjdk - 11 - jre: amd 64 11.0.9.1+1-0ubuntu1~20.04 amd 64 openjdk java runtime, using hotspot JIT and also ii openjdk- 11 - jre-headless : amd64 11.0.9.1+1-0ubuntu1~20.04 amd64 openjdk java runtime, using hotspot JIT (headless17:57
coconutL3monzest0, uninstall those with sudo apt remove <packagename1> <packagename2> <etc>18:11
L3monzest0okay i can try that..so the package name would be JDK 11.0.9.1 ?18:12
coconutjust whats listed as packages with the dpkg -l | grep openjdk command18:14
coconutL3monzest0, sudo apt remove openjdk-11-jdk openjdk-11-jre18:16
tomreynL3monzest0: you should probably keep the already installed version and just install the other one in addition, though18:17
L3monzest0aah thank you!! so the first one is openjdk-1 1-jdk and the second one is openjdk- 1 1-jre?  i was planning on installing a new one without removing this one but i couldn't figure how and which JDK i needed18:17
tomreynapt list --installed *openjdk*18:17
L3monzest0 what version does that install?18:18
tomreyn...lists what you have installed., if you need v8 in addition to already installed v11, then    sudo apt install openjdk-8-jre    i suppose18:18
L3monzest0ah thank's i'll try openjdk-8-jre18:19
tomreyn"apt list --installed *openjdk*" does not install anything, it just queries the current state18:19
L3monzest0ohh18:19
L3monzest0it seems to be installing JDK8 (i didn't uninstall 11) tysm!!18:20
L3monzest0it still says my runtime and openjdk version is 11.0.9.1...?18:32
tete_hi, i have some trouble with xubuntu. first i just wanted to have a bigger resize-frame because its hard for me to hit the corner of a window to resize it. i asked in #ubuntu and they thought i have gnome (forgot to mention xfce...) and one told me alt + f1. thats what i hit and now i have a wierd window open that looks like the whisker menu (but it is not) and its impossible to kill it23:11
tete_hm i try a logout and login, maybe that fixed at least that wierdo window23:12
tete_ok that wierdo window at least disappeared ;) can someone tell me if there is a way to make it easier to hit the corner of a window to resize it?23:13
tete_and another question: my primary monitor is the right one (i have 2). but when i e.g. mount an usb drive, the icon appears on the left monitor23:14
brainwashtete_: pick another window manager theme (Xfce Settings > Window Manager)23:14
brainwashGreybird-accessibility has 3px wide borders23:15
brainwashDefault should have wider borders too, but it depends on which Xubuntu version you use23:16
brainwashhttps://docs.xfce.org/_media/xfce/xfdesktop/desktop_icon_settings.png23:18
brainwashthere is "Show icons on primary display"23:18
brainwashyou probably want that23:18
tete_thanks!23:32
tete_i have to use force full composition pipeline, otherwise the screen flickers heavily... is this known?23:41
