fietHi, since an upgrade of two of my lubuntu 20.04 machines, both stop at starting sddm. Looks like sddm-greeter crashed. Does this sound familiar to someone? Tried reinstalling X and sddm, but that doesn't do anything. Neither does clearing the sddm cache.10:59
fietWhen I use startx from runlevel 3, there's no problem. This also points to the greeter.11:00
Maikfiet: 5.8 kernel installed? i heard that one gives a lot users different kind of issues11:08
guivercfiet, are there any clues in /var/crash/ (ie. details of packages that crashed).  any details in journalctl of help?11:15
guivercfyi:  my files in ~/.cache/sddm-greeter/qmlcache/ are all very old.. 21 months old so why did you think that would help?  have you made changes recently?11:16
fietMaik: I am running 5.4.0-5911:25
fietguiverc: The only change made was a regular upgrade of some packages, none of which were sddm11:25
fietguiverc: I have crashfiles for greeter, but not anything that helps me in any way.11:27
fietguiverc: https://termbin.com/753n11:29
fietHmm, I see that system-hostnamed.service is dead. I believe greeter relies on that.11:31

D000m3nGreetings fellow Lubuntus! I am updating my Lubuntu 18.04 for the last time on my 15+ year old computer. I use it only as a backup server for some files I've gathered throughout the years (not really important ones, just a chance i might need them again). The CPU is  a 1-core AMD Sempron 3000; 1,5 GB of RAM and a very old integrated GPU. Does anyone else have a computer like that laying around? :D17:13
