[11:42] good that we have synaptic, as running updater after installation wants to remove gnome software - https://imgur.com/HvEjwfA.png [11:45] bluesabre: anyway we can fix this, as i had the same issue with 20.04 and mentioned what the guys in ubuntu-testers suggested we do [11:48] and this looks like why. its trying to install the snap store - https://imgur.com/noF4ik2.png [12:46] JackFrost: why is panel 4.16 stuck in -proposed? [12:47] Rat's nest of things which libxfce4ui depends on. [12:47] https://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/proposed-migration/hirsute/ [12:48] okay thx [12:50] libgit is to blame. [13:07] jphilips: I think we ran into the same issue before, but it was only while in development. We’ll need to confirm if the snap stop version is supposed to take over and remove the ability to install debs. [13:19] !info snap-store [13:19] Package snap-store does not exist in hirsute [13:20] bluesabre: i remember it happening to regular users who installed the non-dev ISOs. i'm going to install 20.04.1 to test what happens [13:22] Things like lxd and chromium got turned into fake packages, but gnome-software didn't. I have no idea how it's happening. [13:23] snap-store isn't a deb package, its a snap package [13:23] 'sudo snap install snap-store' [13:24] Right, but that doesn't explain the jump. [13:27] Anyway, yeah not really my area at least. Budgie is the only other one that pulls in gnome-software. [13:28] bluesabre: Oh right, so -indicator-plugin uploaded to Debian. How do we want to play this? [13:47] could it be because xubuntu-desktop recommends snapd? [13:47] fresh install of 20.04.1 wanting to remove gnome software - https://imgur.com/Phhjf7m.png [23:50] JackFrost: good question... looks like we might need the systemd patch, and its probably a good time now to switch fully over to ayatana indicators even though messages isn't in ubuntu yet. Are we the last official flavor shipping indicator-messages? [23:56] If we merge, we keep indicator-* support and do not have ayatana-indicator-* support, if we sync than the inverse is true and we wouldn't need the systemd patch. [23:57] gir1.2-messagingmenu-1.0 is on some others, but yeah seems we are the only one shipping it. [23:59] JackFrost: let's sync! [23:59] Confirmed that gnome-software is removing itself in hirsute, https://imgur.com/Hr8c4TD.png [23:59] So that's nice.
