[07:23] [telegram] This is my work computer and I tried changing desktop environment, and all the possible solutions that I could find. [07:23] [telegram] When entering correct password it is showing just one line information about /dev/sea and returning back to lockscreen. [07:33] @devilhere best to search for bug reports or on askubuntu. You're probably not the only one that ran into such an issue. [08:03] i may have just cought a uefi biot virus.. i know im a noob but i need to check out a few concerns with somone who does know whats going on [08:11] is there somone here who knows if its normal to check logs and find heaps of denied access attempts to various files on my encrypted hdd then followed by some code running snap and then installing something i forget what and finally adding a new user and updating some files before i get an update prompt then after that it opened a debian instal [08:11] window for.. uefi firmware update and installed heaps of new programs some i looked up and they related to emulating OS.. upon reboot the grub menu looked different .. i looked up some of the code and it linked to a text document with different os listed and known explots and included lubuntu and the snap code-snippet i hade googled [08:12] does lubuntu normaly update uefi firmware? [08:14] why does my recently accessed files list so many files i never searched for being attempted to be accessed [08:29] anyone here can help me? === Guest_6 is now known as aleaf === lubuntu is now known as Guest25579 === james is now known as Guest43741 [18:23] sadas [18:23] sdf [18:23] sdf [18:23] sdf [18:23] sdf [18:23] sdf [18:38] [telegram] what is the problem? (re @lubuntu_bot: (irc) sadas) [18:38] i think it might be a pebkac [18:39] [telegram] They were quieted by the bot. [18:39] [telegram] I have seen no msgs today [18:40] there is.. an appimage. i'll have to check it out [18:41] oops that was the wrong channel XD [18:41] [telegram] Oh good, I was confused. [18:42] i heard that [18:42] [telegram] XD [19:19] hi https://manual.lubuntu.me/stable/5/5.1/lxqt-panel.html#chapter-5-1-lxqt-panel tells me how to 'use' the panel but not how to add it as a widget ... and the help in the menu doesn't contain the word 'widget' ... help please? [19:20] it says "LXQt Panel is the bar situated at the bottom of your screen by default. " well I installed lubuntu from ISO and it is not there at all... [19:20] btw I was using lubuntu 18.04 and it did have the task bar at the bottom but 20.04 now doesn't have it [19:40] found this $ sudo apt-get install lxqt openbox -y [19:41] very frustrating, you install lubuntu, you read the help files, and the interface it talks about is simply not there and it does not say how to put it, it just assumes wrongly, that it is there [19:44] That sounds like something has gone horribly wrong at installation then.. [19:45] What exact packages were installed by the above command then? [19:47] sorry what above command? when installing, I simply pressed the 'next' button available, I don't rembember getting a choice of desktops [19:48] well in theory whe i reboot I should see the lxqt desktop, still waiting for the comand to do its magic :) [19:48] following instructions from here [19:49] https://linoxide.com/ubuntu-how-to/install-lxqt-desktop-ubuntu/ [19:49] and here https://techblog.thcb.in/how-to-install-lxqt-desktop-environment-in-ubuntu/ [19:49] Aha, so you didn't actually run said command yet.. [19:50] Because my guess would be that e.g. lxqt-panel is just not running for some reason. [19:53] So I'd try running "lxqt-panel" from a terminal for a start. [20:04] installing the lxqt desktop is not installing lubuntu [20:04] so there's that [20:05] lubuntu explicitly installs packages rather than the lxqt metapackage, so we can't guarantee it will work well [20:05] tl;dr install lubuntu === ubott2 is now known as ubottu [23:05] hey [23:13] ho
