Jesse-DavidOkay so I think I resolved one half of the issue with studio-controls. I resolved the issue with Jack. It constantly would give me messages: Server not responding or can be started. So I tried to kill the application many times over. Had to literally kill it like 3 different ways just to get it to work. Now that that worked, I was able to start05:14
Jesse-Davidstudio-controls no problem and for a minute it worked. As soon as I tried to change any setting with bridging or the service whatsoever, after saying apply settings, it would crash the Jack server. And then studio-controls would stop working... I went into the files to see the parameters set for studio-controls initializing Jack and thought I could05:14
Jesse-Davidchange them to active under a certain circumstance, but it didn't seem to do much. So I suppose right now my problem is involved with studio-controls not properly activating the Jack server. I'll probably do more to try, but I am accepting any ideas for a fix! ... In the mean time, when studio-controls isn't running and qjackctl is, I am able to05:14
Jesse-Davidget audio on my computer. It's only when studio-controls tries to run in which I don't get my audio.05:14
MauroGaspari[m]Jesse-David: Just a quick question for you. Did you by any chance install other non ubuntu-studio PPAs related to JACK or audio? And/or did you install other tools to manage JACK? I ask this because I know that those can cause issues that would be hard to troubleshoot and fix. In that case, I recommend a fresh install.05:31
MauroGaspari[m]If you are sure none of the above is part of your setup, I'd start removing the autojack.json (or move it out of that folder if you want to keep it for reference), and reboot, see if it helps. it should be in ~/.config/autojack05:31
Jesse-DavidI have not, rather this is for my fresh install on a different computer of Ubuntu studio that I made on the fifth of this month. Let me give it a try and I'll let you know05:35
Jesse-DavidWell I tried as you suggested. But it seems that I still receive the same errors with Jack not responding after applying audio settings on studio-controls.06:05
Jesse-DavidAt this point, I am all but at a loss. Swear I'06:06
Jesse-DavidI've tried everything possible06:06
MauroGaspari[m]Jesse-David: I have never seen anything like that. Let's wait till later when OvenWerks or Eickmeyer join in, they know way more than I do07:06
arsaaló aló!07:20
arsaSo...I just installed Ubuntu Studio on a mcahine and the video glitches out on me. I think it has something to with de DE. If I boot the computer right into live mode: It glitches. I need to go into recovery mode and then I can start the live session. After installing and restarting the computer, I log into the Ubuntu session and the video glitches07:26
arsaout, so I log out and log into the XFCE sesion and everything is ok07:26
arsaBut then, I reboot and go straight into the XFCE session to see if, indeed, the desk environment is the causing problems and the video glitches in xfce too. So as of right now I'm installing the iso again to see what happens.07:26
arsaFunny enough, when I booted my laptop (A Toshiba Satellite L855 with 2gb of RAM) it has no problems but in the Desktop with a 10 core amd cpu with 8 gb of ddr4 ram: video doesn't work.07:26
arsaWell...I guess I'll just stick to i3 then. No video glitch...I was going to install it anyway. Thanks for the quick replies! Good night :307:33
MauroGaspari[m]<arsa "Well...I guess I'll just stick t"> it is a well known bug with XFCE and MATE on ubuntu. If you install latest version of Ubuntu Studio, which uses Plasma DE, you won't have that problem07:46

MauroGaspari[m]in case you prefer to stick with XFCE or MATE, some workarounds are available07:48
MauroGaspari[m]Please refer to the links above. I hope it helps07:48
Jesse-DavidTHat's so odd. I never have issues with xfce. Actually I find it one of the more compatible gui's out there for amd products. It takes advantage much much better than any other gui in terms of my refresh rate on my monitors (144hz, 240hz). xfce allows for all my applications to take advantage, where as, for example, kde always only worked on the08:00
Jesse-Daviddesktop for high refresh rates and never really worked with application integration for vertical and horizontal sync. Amd or nvidia always had that issue with kde, mate, budgie, lubuntu.08:00
MauroGaspari[m]<Jesse-David "THat's so odd. I never have issu"> it is not an XFCE issue alone, as far as I know, it only affects Ubuntu using XFCE and MATE. Tumbleweed, Arch, Manjaro and other distros that move faster already patched the Xorg issue, a long time ago. Not sure why it is taking so long to Ubuntu to fix it. Also I believe it only affects AMD GPUs.08:02
Jesse-DavidWell the glitching issue is a whole other reason. I think I had it on an install about 3 years ago, but was able to fix it. I just meant the high refresh rate issue that everything else cannot process correctly. I was just saying in terms of graphics performance, xfce on my ubuntu computers tend to work better especially with the refresh rates08:05
wonkoMy FW card arrived. It's so tiny!18:57
OvenWerksThe plugs determine the size...19:32
wonkoYeah, the card is plugs, TI chip and some line drivers. Very simple.20:29
