[04:01] Hi, I've recently been able to make work my mackie onyx 800i in ubuntustudio 20.10 and I'd like to know how is possible to get my firewire card and my USB soundcard input within the same jack instance? Is it possible? [04:04] <_puddle_> in studio controls, if you set the firewire card as default and check the "connect usb devices" option that should work right? [04:04] <_puddle_> i'm not actually using ubuntu studio, just lurking [09:30] is it just my system or is ardour creating the out- and inputs in the router grid sort of randomly? [09:31] if i start geonkick as standalone, all the tracks are numbered as should and well isolated. In ardour, track 1 is on 18/32 [09:31] i'd expect the track after that to be the R-output, but instead it's a mix between geonkicks track1 and 2... like there's some leaking going on.. [09:33] oh... i see.. i can make it assign one track per output too... [09:37] lol... loading kits in geonkick crashes ardour... [09:37] user kits only though... [09:40] hahaha! Everytime i feel like i sorted things out, something else is coming in my way. [10:08] oh workarround! \o/ saving the kit in the ardour thingie works! [10:11] * sakrecoer[b] uploaded an image: image.png (14KiB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/basspistol.org/crcbXUhhGddjyDTYRZLIEUrp/image.png > [10:11] this thingy [10:17] at the end of this journey, i'm going to write a book about it. It will be packed with to be blood, sweat and tears. But the music included is going to be sweeter than huney :p [11:50] * sakrecoer[b] uploaded an audio file: dingdingworld_reworkeddrums_r1_session_2021-02-03_1247.mp3 (5134KiB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/basspistol.org/efKUqAgKwJbvdQprmXIWijJt/dingdingworld_reworkeddrums_r1_session_2021-02-03_1247.mp3 > [11:51] not exactly the most complicated piece of music, but i fragging made it!!! even the drum is midi sauce with geon-wurst \o/ [11:51] hmm... [11:51] export go bananas. lol [11:55] my bad... the midi automation didn't start at start lol [11:55] that's a classic with all software i have ever tried [11:56] the synths stay at the state they were last time they were played [11:56] * sakrecoer[b] uploaded an audio file: dingdingworld_reworkeddrums_r1_session_2021-02-03_1254.mp3 (5134KiB) < https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/basspistol.org/bVjAPEekiyTNERGyWVRkOJzm/dingdingworld_reworkeddrums_r1_session_2021-02-03_1254.mp3 > [11:57] wihu 🎉 smol release party! :D [12:02] Many moons ago, when I hunted mammoth with the tribe and sequenced midi with my Atari St and a Yamaha MU80 hooked up with actual midi cables... [12:03] I recorded a sysex dump of the synth at the beginning of the song. [12:04] hahaha! Those were the days! Mammoths and Ataris, what else do we need? [12:04] Because you know. Everything came from one hardware box. [12:04] AND YOU LIKED IT! [12:04] Recently sold my MU80 [12:05] probably the clever thing to do [12:06] Kept hold on it for old time sake. Had some patches I used with my old band. But... The internal memory battery died and that was it. [12:06] it's lovely, but tweaking it ugh... [12:06] ouch [12:06] I hooked it up lately. Played the demos. Didn't sound as good as I remembered. [12:06] Still good for a 90s rompler ofc [12:07] In other fun news : my external / backup hdd is failing \o/ [12:08] aaaaaah??!!? [12:08] nooooooooooo nightmare! I pray to the cybergods for it's well being!!! [12:08] Been running dosfck for almost a day now [12:08] Hope I can save some files. [12:08] You know. Just the kids photos and videos [12:09] If I can't save it I'm gonna send it to some disk repair shop. [12:09] well... just and just..... [12:10] Like 99% is just junk you don't really miss in the end. But we have video from a child birth. [12:10] i feel the pain... [12:10] Can't redo that [12:10] totally! i have had one master drive die on me... there is this one track that haunts me, but that's it... [12:10] It hurt enough the first time 🤣 [12:11] Well not to me, I was fine. But from the look of it, giving birth isn't pleasant at all. [12:11] uff... but.... does one really re:watch child birth ? i'd pass out every time [12:11] I pass out when I get an injection. [12:12] me too 😅 can't even see injections in movies [12:12] But with your wife and kids, it's different. [12:12] I'm getting injections every 5 weeks. [12:12] It's fun. [12:13] I really should go. Weather is awful... 😬 [12:13] ryl!! [12:13] Gotta deliver mail... [12:13] holding my 8 thumbs for your drive [12:14] On bicycle ofc. This is Holland after all. [15:00] rgh: I walked (before I retired)... also delivered mail [15:01] sakrecoer[b]: when my son was born, they provided a chair behind me saying "if you feel faint just sit down" I didn't but Tim was way to big for his Mom who is just over 5 foot high and him being almost 10 pounds [15:09] oh my <3 [15:10] don't have any... not particularily interested. But it wouldnt [15:10] ... be the worst STD i could catch :D [15:10] to be fair it seems rather lovely [15:12] i mean... to have kids... the whole delivery aspect... phew... and i wouldn't even be doing the hardcore part [20:58] dammit, I can't test the AF4 on the mac. the thunderbolt port doesn't appear to supply enough power. :( [21:06] The AF4 can't self power? [21:25] It can but I don't have a brick for it [21:26] :( [21:29] it looks like a fairly standard power supply [21:29] I don't know if I have one that'll work with it though [22:33] ordered a universal one hopefully it works [22:54] maybe that will allow lower latency [22:55] Sending info more often does mean more processing and more power. [23:14] Yeah, but FW can supply a lot of power. I wouldn't expect that to make a ton of difference [23:15] Actually, FW can provide more power than the power brick I just bought. [23:16] i love ubuntu [23:17] :D
