furicleI'm trying to do a manual, bare metal install from the 20.04.2 iso.    I get a series of messages about cloud-init, but the installer never starts, and there is no log in session on and of the Control-F2, etc etc.    I've tried two different computers, and both 20.04.1 as well as 20.04.220:00
furicleWhat am I missing?  I've read the install guide and it just says "After a few moments, you should see messages like those shown below on the screen…20:00
tewardfuricle: have you verified the ISO you were using is valid first?20:02
tewardnot loading up usually suggests there might be a problem with the ISO and it's not complete.20:02
furicleChecksums match?   And it did the same thing with both the 20.04.1 and the 20.04.2 iso.20:04
furicleNote I haven't installed Ubuntu/Debian for years (I'm more of a CentOS guy) so this cloud-init thing is new to me,  but... it boots, it does this cloud-init stuff, and I gather then it's supposed to start the installer, and it never does.20:06
tewardif your system's got issues with networking it might spin for a bit before loading.  server ISOs us a new installer, subiquity, and have cloud-init as the initial configuration mechanism.20:07
tewardand i had issues with one of those spinning a bit if network autoconfig doesn't work.20:07
furicleSo it *has* to have a working DHCP connection to install?20:09
furicleOn both machines it seems to recognize the ethernet card, but not bring it up.20:10
furicleHow long is 'a bit' ?20:11
furicleThanks for reading all, guess I'll have to come at this a different way.20:37
UssatI install 20.04.X all the time in VM's at work and have never had that issue, granted, I do servers20:43
Ussatbut I do not think it requires a dhcp connection20:43
