t0mb0krytarik, so for the favicon, my feeling here is that the data for the favicon actually lived on disk before we came up with wordpress object storage plugin.08:17
t0mb0You can actually upload whatever favicon you like here https://www.ubuntu-news.org/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2Fwp-admin%2Fthemes.php%3Fpage%3Dthematic_opt08:17
t0mb0are you able to try that and let me know if it still doesn't work?08:18
t0mb0krytarik, also I think I fixed the top menu!08:22
t0mb0looks like some of the theme customisations didn't carry across08:22
t0mb0guiverc, cc08:26
t0mb0guess I can add "fullstack" developer to my resume now :P08:26
t0mb0krytarik, guiverc - I plan on destroying the obsolete blog environment. Would you like a copy of the legacy codebase and data for posterity?08:33
guiverct0mb0, I'd not understand it, but thanks; I'd wait for krytarik to answer though08:35
t0mb0ack08:35
guivercfyi:  I can't login to ubuntu-news.org  (I've never tried before to my knowledge though; I post via fridge.ubuntu.com) ; "You need a higher level of permission"08:37
t0mb0guiverc, hmm08:38
t0mb0can you login via fridge.u.c?08:38
t0mb0I'd say it's the identity manager RP configs08:39
t0mb0hmm actually, it could be a number of things08:39
t0mb0some of which may require additional updates to the charm :'(08:39
guiverchold on... fridge yep (post there almost weekly)08:39
t0mb0I've run out of bandwidth on this I think but you're welcome to raise an RT for an SRE to look into in the future08:40
t0mb0(given that fridge.u.c still works)08:40
guivercnope sorry t0mb0, I tried again and I'm in this time...  I must have done something wrong..08:41
guivercApologies t0mb008:41
t0mb0heh all good!08:41
guivercThanks for your work & effort t0mb008:41
* guiverc wishes I'd not logged into ubuntu-news... lots of spam cause I guess no-one logs in there08:42
t0mb0oh hang on! I just realised you mentioned the favicon was on /feed and /wp-admin... hmmm08:42
t0mb0let me do some more poking08:42
* guiverc is out on both08:43
t0mb0oh wow the favicon is actually embedded in the vcs08:48
t0mb0loool08:48
t0mb0of which we're returning a 404 for it, hopefully this is an ez config fix!08:51
t0mb0okay krytarik I've tracked down why the icon isn't working. The themes actually don't register any head hooks to inject common include bits inside <head>..</head>10:57
t0mb0the reason it was working is because wordpress has a default handler for $URI/favicon.ico which just returns the URL for what it has stored in the db. This bit of data went missing, likely for the reason reason the other theme bits went missing.10:58
t0mb0I'd chalk it up to db schema changes10:58
t0mb0anyway to fix it, I just re-uploaded the favicon.ico from the theme repository and now I'm seeing favicon.ico under /feed10:58
t0mb0and /admin10:58

krytarikt0mb0: Yeah, indeed I'm now also seeing all of the header links, the favicon on the feed, as well as in the WP admin area - so thanks for all your effort!  But I can't really make anything of the old blog stuff you asked about either.. :P  However, if it doesn't pertain to the actual content, then I believe you can just do away with it. :)17:36
